The gauges aren't real accurate. The range is 40-60 at cruise. If it gets real hot and you are on the track it could drop below 40.

yes that is normal! And I second Jack. These gauges are not to be used for accuracy...just for general information. I had a 97RT that would be 60 at cruise, and 40 at idle...now my 98 is 40 at cruise and 20 at idle...and here is the kicker...I have had two different complete engines in the car and it made no difference at all with the pressure. So take what you see with a grain of salt... I do suggest that when it drops to ZERO, you turn off the car!!!! ;)

I went through the same thing with my oil pressure. I showed 20 psi at hot idle, but had a friend put a mechanical gauge on it and he said i was actually almost at 30 psi at hot idle. At 3500 RPM, my gauge showed 60psi, the mechanical gauge showed almost 80psi. I replaced the oil pressure sensor and its a little more accurate now, but not much. I am thinking about installing an aftermarket mechanical oil pressure gauge just for my piece of mind.

Mine seems to be between. It shows 30psi at hot idle, and 50-55 at speed. Go figure!
