Did you buy your Viper sight unseen?

I hear people saying they do it on here and I think, oh my god, they must be crazy, I would never do that. Well I still don't think I could do that since I am so anal with maybe one exception. You guessed it, Bill Pemberton. I have talked to Bill enough via my search for the right Viper I actually think Bill might be one of the few people on the face of this earth that is as anal as me. Not sure this is a god thing Bill

but I guess it is when it comes time to buy a Viper.

Well, have you bought one sight unseen? From who and how was the experience?

Yep, I bought both of mine sight unseen and both times they exceeded my expections. The 00 ACR came from Mike Robbins at Ringgold Dodge in GA. The 01 ACR came from Private party in MO. In both cases they said if the car wasn't as described to return it for a full refund.

Yep, just saw a small Auto Trader ad online. I flew from Tampa FL to Marquette MI to pick it up and drive it home. Gotta love an adventure.

I have bought 5 Vipers sight unseen and except for the one on its way, all have been as-advertised. Just be sure the seller is legit (VCA member, frequent poster on the message boards, etc.) and get lots of pics.

Bought mine via Pemberton sight unseen. Flew in and picked it up the next day. Decided to drive it home rather than ship it. First time I have ever sat in and drove a Viper was out of the Viper warehouse at Woodhouse. First couple of hundred miles was paranoid as could be.

bought both of mine sight unseen. i bought one from bill at woodhouse and one from Jenkins motors. i would buy from woodhouse again but never from jenkins motors. several things promised to be included but never showed up. I try to get the word out about Jenkins Auto in Florida as much as possible. The salesman's name was Abojo.

Found mine on AutoTrader.com. Had the seller take it to a Dodge dealership that had a very experienced Viper tech to have it checked out. They faxed me all the paperwork showing no problems found, I then called and talked to the Service Manager to get double assurance it was a clean car. I then rode up to NC w/2 family members (NC is 5 hours away from me) with the bank check. I checked it out for myself, testdrove it, handed the seller the check and drove home

I had never driven a Viper before in my life until that night, 11 pm on a Sunday 18 wheeler calls me and says my GTS is a mile from my house.

Yep. bought and sold my Porsche on eBay and bought my Viper on eBay ( 1600 miles away and drove it home...from a private owner) and watches overseas.....(did you ever buy a watch sight unseen for $20K ????? I can't help it..I'm an eBay addict...always had good luck ( with a lot of prior research)

I bought mine sight unseen. However, this was only 'cause I bought it from a trusted source, SW in Austin, TX. I asked him to find me a Viper, and he did.

He found me my S500, as well, which I got sight unseen, as well.

Got mine from DodgeVipersforsale.com. After talking to Marvin Rose, the owner, and seeing several pics I had a good feeling about the deal and pulled the trigger. I have never bought a used car that was so imaculate. Would buy again from him again.

I bought mine from Los Angeles when i was Deployed in West Africa. I had the previous owner take it to DC performance to get inspected. Everything worked out great! I saw several pictures of the car and told DC exactly what i was looking for and they were happy to help me out!

Me too. Got mine from Woodhouse. A little nerveracking, but now, I wouldn't buy from any other Dodge dealer (except Tator's, of course!).

Put me down as well! Bought my GTS from a dealer in New York after talking to the salesman a bunch of times and receiving about 10 pictures of the car. I thought he was full of it when he said that there wasn't a scratch on the entire car. He was right! This car exceded my expectations by a long shot. Friendly Dodge in Penn Yan, NY has a customer for life.

I bought my GTS off a ebay ad. Did transaction between me and the owner, no ebay involved. Saw pictures, never layed eyes on car until it rolled off transport truck.

Yup, bought mine from Premier Autos in MO. Absolutely perfect when it rolled out of the trailer. I have another car ordered from them and when they find what I want I'll wire them the money and have them ship it to me again-sight unseen.

Forgot to mention that i bought my 95 Hummer the same way, just a couple of email pixs then made the deal. Very nerve racking but what a way to get a thrill out of shopping :nana:

Yes, just had pictures emailed from dealership. Car had 3,000 miles - I got a great deal and figured anything not seen in pictures would be covered via warrantee.

nope. i had to go over it with a fine tooth comb.

paid for a full inspection including dropping the oil pan and checking out a bearing. leak down. compression. frame. body. and a single pull dyno test.

now im doing a rebuild with forged pistons anyway, so it was mostly a waste of time lol.

Bought my current Viper sight unseen after several unsuccessful bids on e-bay (reserve not met). Thru contact w/ the owner we finally reached a price. First an electronic deposit was made. Then title was delivered. After I received the title I electronically transferred the balance. Couple of weeks later had the car. Lots of trust but everything worked out.
