I am considering a TT package for my 03 SRT10 and wanted to get input from the forum on which TT Vendor and package is most reliable. I am also interested to know how much elevation would impact the TT system? I live in Colorado Springs (elev 6700) and noticed my Paxton dies at 5K rpm.

Thx for the feedback -

First and foremost, build the motor with the TT install. With that being said, I drove my car from Dallas to Sarasota, Fl. Made 15 1/4 mile passes and then drove it home without incident. Racing solutions offers a GREAT SYSTEM.

I have a heffner twin turbo system that I run in utah (4500ft)and it makes great power. Turbos are more efficient than superchargers and the loss of power is not as great. You do lose power but you can easily turn up the boost a little to compensate for any power loss. If like to go to the drag strip occassionally and mostly drive on the street then the system that heffner has is great. The AEM controller allows you to control the boost based on MPH or gear and my srt will spin the tires in 3rd gear if it hits 11psi of boost between 60-115mph. So, I just set the controller to make less than 11psi and she just flies.

There is now never a problem with not enough power just enough traction. Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback. I am likely going to Hennessey for the TT given they are closer to CO and all their TT packages include rebuilt stroker motor. I am more worried about the stress of high PSI on anyone cylinder and component failures. The S/C system has proven reliability with lots of installs and miles. I am hoping the TT system shows the same stability.

I'd ask for a few referrals before spending the $$$$.

I think there are several companies that make good twin packages. Make sure you get at least gt35r's or bigger! Anything smaller and you will be disappointed. Also, make sure you get an AEM with whoevers system you are going with. They are great for us a elevation that want a simple way to turn up boost or subtract a little fuel. Remember, anything more than 950rwhp you will probably never use on the street because you will just spin the tires unless you run around on drag radials. Keep us updated and I throw in a good word with John!

BTW, John is doing really well and you won't have any probs with him in service or getting references.

Better listen to RedEnuff and ViperX. I had several tuners I could have picked from and I RESEARCHED & RESEARCHED & RESEARCHED and read article after article and listened to all the comments and RECOMMENDATIOS and picked HEFFNER PERFORMANCE in Sarasota, Fla. Sure, it was a long way but I "know" that my car will be the best "IT CAN BE".... That much money don't come easy to most of us. I want to know it's gonna be right !!

I would call John in Houston and see if he can get you in touch with Scott (the son of Remax owner) here in Castle Pines. Scott has last years model, a Venon 1000 Coupe. It is black and the black one on Johns site.

Anyway I am sure Scott would be able to provide you with some first hand knowledge.

I am in Castle Pines, myself and have a Blue with SS 06' Coupe and was considering the Paxton set-up but your above 5,000 rpm die off has me concerned.

PM me or e-mail me at [email protected] I would be interested in seeing your car and understanding the Paxton issues. I know high altitude tuning is a major issue on all of my supercharged vehicles up here (all five). Without the proper tune, they ****. Took me 2 years to get my S351R Saleen tuned properly. Then again it now has a built 408 Stroker and a ton of mods.

Yah, yah everyone says the supercharger compensates for atlitude but they have never had to tune a centifigal at this altitude. Hell one of my other Saleens left me for dead at 12,000 feet because the O2 tables in the program were not programmed past 10,000 ft. I had to jump start it at 12,000 feet just to get it going just South of Telluride one year.

The only way to tune these cars is right here in Colorado with a special tune as you are driving them around. That is what I have had to do with my Vortechs and my Whipples on my other vehicles.

If it is a matter of tuning, I might be interested in your old Paxton set-up, if you are looking at getting rid of it. If the issue is beyond that, guess I need to start putting money on the piggybank for a TT set-up.

I am a mile high as well. Just get tune and you will be ok. My Viper bone stock with a Paxton installed by Woodhouse made 704rwhp corrected for sea level on a dyno jet. But saying that turbos are the best. But if you want decent power for the money you can't beat the Paxton. Also get the DLM intercooler big difference!

I have had my TT package for about 120 days, and love it! The outfit that did the work was Underground Racing out of Charlote, NC. The motor was rebuilt to a 522 stroker motor, and included a number of extras that many of the other tuners offered for a healthier price. I will say that proximity to you should NOT be a factor in your decision for this type of modification at all! You need the best tuner/modifier first, price second, and proximity last. I would recomend you call those guys from Underground Racing, ask for Kevin (704) 361-3443, and don't be afraid to tell him I sent you. Good luck!

I had my viper shipped to Texas (R.S.I) from NY. for the install. It was worth every penny.

before you decide to go with someone, talk with lots of people, do your homework, and read lots of threads. just because a tuner or vendor lives close to you, does not necessarily qualify them as the best choice for the job. dont be afraid to ship your car to the other side of the country if need be, to avoid headaches and to get a job done right. oh, and be sure to ask around about service AFTER the install in case you happen to have a problem. THAT question alone will seperate the true professionals from the hacks.

The most unrelable part of a TT system isn't the turbo system it's self, it's the motor and tune. Get a safe tune by someone who knows what they are doing and have the motor built by a pro it makes all the differance.

I am not a rich viper owner. I make approx 50k/yr. So I don't have 40-60k to blow on my motor. I end up doing a lot of work myself. Things that need to be 110% perfect, I will farm out (like engine builds and tune) But install/removing of parts I can do myself.

I am currently teaching myself to tune this split sec.

As far as engine builders go, two come to mind that are a good choice. Proline and Arrow Racing. Both build more viper motors than anyone.

Proline builds some best/fastest motors EVER in a viper. That is why Heff/UGR use them. But, they are not cheap.

Arrow Racing, They also do a great job, but they don't build motors that can handle 1200-1500rwhp. If your looking for the best "stock-ish motor" go with these guys. (say 800rwhp)

Getting a motor built will run you 10k-15k easy. If you want something that will handle anything you can toss at it your looking at 20k and UP (ex custom crank, dry sump, solid roller cam, ect)
