I currently own a Z06 vette. But the Viper has been calling my name loudly!

I like the 2013, but looked at a few 2010 Gen IVs. Great price available on a used ACR with 8,000 miles. Also looking at a brand new 2010 SRT, 4 miles, but additional $24K. My wife is adamant that I don't drive an ACR with the big wing in the back.

I asked the rep what is considered a lot of miles and he said 10,000. Well, I guess its a function of how they are driven certainly. Is 8,000 miles on the ACR too many? At this time I don't have its history, i.e. how was it driven...

One more really dumb question...can the wing be set up to be removed for "casual" driving, then bolted back on for track days? Flame away :smirk:

I would consider 8000 miles barely broken in ... Vipers are durable, have a viper tech look it over if you cant

Welcome MtnBiker
I'm confused on something.
Are you saying you found a used 2010 ACR with 8K on it for 24k less than a new 2010 coupe?
New Gen 4 coupe has a sticker about 98K, so you could probably get for less than 90K.
You found a ACR 2010 for 65K?

An ACR wing alone without proper front splitter and suspension could become dangerously unstable at HIGH speeds.

Thanks for the welcome. I am a Viper novice but enthusiast.

Yes, I found a used 2010 ACR with 8,000 miles for $70K, and a new 2010 Gen 4 Coupe for $94K. I prefer the coupe but not sure I can reach the price.

I was asking if I could remove the wing on the ACR for running around town, but put it back on for track days. The car would still have the splitter and canards...just trying to appease the wife and her strong opinion of me driving around with a wing. I am 50 and she thinks I act 23:rolleyes:

Although a Viper is a stout car and 8k miles is not a lot of miles, I would believe that an average Viper gets driven between 2k and 2.5k miles per year. When you are shopping for a used Viper most folks are looking for a Viper with "Viper miles" on it and not one that has the miles of your average family car.

That seems like an extremely good price for a '10 ACR any stories with it?
I see '09's at dealers going for 80-85K.

I do not know its story. I will look into it, as much detail as they seller will disclose.

for that price u better buy that ACR......Viper owners take very good care of their Viper, and the wing is one of the things that sets the ACR off from the regular SRT 10 Viper.....it will grow on your wife, especially when she hears all the compliments you will get when u drive it......they are beautiful Vipers and the owners manual says not to mess with the adjustment of the wing unless you know what u are doing.......leave it alone...otherwise just buy a normal 2008 or newer SRT 10 and u will NEVER go back to a Vette........the wing is NOT saying you are trying to be younger...it says that the ACR is the ultimate representative of the Viper and everyone else loves it.......I had a 2009 ACR and I loved it and sooooooo did everyone else.........unless that ACR had a rebuild title or something,,,,,,,,it is under warranty anywAY AND YOU WILL love IT OVER THE vETTE anyday...........BUY it.........:2tu: :drive::beer:

So, then, tell us where that 2010 ACR for $70k is !!! ;)

Congrats on the new purchase.! I do believe that if you are going to own something like a 2010 ACR, you should have to carry credentials that you drive the car on a roadcourse of some sort, at speed, on average at least twice a year that you own it ! JMHO.

It all depends on the miles driven. 8000 miles is a lot of 1/4 mile trips on the other hand barely broken in for the casual driver.
