There are 3 things I think would really bug me about owning a GenV that seem to be a recurring theme in a lot of posts so I want to understand what the status is in terms of the degree of the problems and what is being done by SRT and/or owners ?

1) Cabin Heat... I would have probably sold my GenII if I didn't remove the cats so how does this compare ? Does the AC keep up in hot weather ?

2) Paint Melting... I had to have my sills re-sprayed because of this but I would be fuming if that happened on a brand new car at this price. How bad and where ?

3) Passenger side interior rattle... So what is this and has anyone had it corrected ?

Hopefully this thread stays positive and informative. Thanks

Cabin heat is not an issue. Paint melting is not an issue. The rattle is probably the seat belt and can occur when you don't have a passenger. All you have to do is rout the belt through the strap provided on the side of the seat. All these are just my own personal experiences.

I agree Bill

The car is absolutely the best Viper Yet.. I had em all......The AC Cranks..The cabin heat is less than any Viper ever, The side sills burning the paint I guess is possible ..and I would love to know the conditions that this happened under....
Besides, its under warranty..... Also, Im sure the white paint is more suitable to this...Heck the 98 GTS-R's had that issue also, But they all sold out last time I checked...

Your going to hear things about this car no matter what SRT did...

If you take care of the car , and use common sense..many of theses myths are avoided....

The Gen V is phenomenal.... the performance pages are cool too

The only issue I have is there are no goodies to buy yet.. that's the biggest problem..

1 Cabin Heat - I've had one time in 3.5 months and 3,700 miles where heat was an issue. It was 94* out and I parked the car at a cruise in for a couple hours. The starting temp inside the car was HOT when I got in to leave and it struggled to cool it down during the 20 min drive home. I know if I would have driven longer it would have eventually cooled it down. I had the back hatch window tinted 20% to help fight this. Otherwise I've never ever had an issue with heat. The footwell a simply do not heat up. And this was a major complaint that I had of the Gen 2 that I rented for a weekend 11 years ago.

2 Paint Melting - non issue in 3,700 miles. I'd like to know the conditions where this happened. Maybe in the desert on a 110* day hot lapping the car.

3 Interior Noise - I have a intermittent noise around the center console I need to chase down. But it's not bothering me enough to stop driving it to find it yet.

No paint melting. I have a slight bit of yellowing 1/4" that ill have the dealer note and get fixed in the future. I only noticed detailing.
