Autotrader, Cars.com, Ebay, Craigslist, using all of those I can find maybe 2 cars that meet what I'm looking for, and I'm not very picky. I'm trying to find a Blue or Red Gen 3 or Gen 4 COUPE that is under $50,000. I can find a few out of state (I'm in Florida), and then pay the crazy shipping charges, but I'd like to actually see the car first. How did you guys even go about finding your Viper, I can't find any, I'm thinking I might have to just get a convertible or I wont be getting a Viper at all

Just FYI, you have zero chance of finding a Gen-4 under 50K without a bazillion miles on it, and honestly an 06 is pushing it too for a lower mile car, even a Vert. For the 40-50K range, you will be in the "average" category with regard to condition/miles. A super low mile perfect example will likely be at the high end or just over that, especially for special editions.

Also for what its worth, don't discredit the Vert until you drive one!

I'm in Houston. I bought mine out of Chicago. Sometimes you have to travel to get what you want. 1-way plane tickets are cheap, and the drive home is a great memory builder.

I couldn't find one either, I posted a wtd on this forum and bought a great car off a great guy. car wasn't for sale at the time. a lot of people I think would consider a sale if they know they have a ready buyer.

The problem with the vert is I just dont think it looks as good as the coupe, and I wouldn't be able to run it at the track without a rollbar.. I'm sure it sounds great and is fun to cruise in, but it's not really for me.

Are you the same Nine Ball as on Camaro5? You sold me wheels for my Camaro, I think!

If you want a coupe in the 50k range, you are limited to 2006 only. As other mentioned you wont find a Gen IV for that unless something is up. Good luck in your search!

You will never find a Gen 4 for anyplace close to 50K and as for buying sight unseen. I did this but it was also at a dealer that had a good rep. I made them send me a ton of detailed pics and I also emailed them my questions about the car. That way if it shows up and has issues I had what they said in writing. You can buy without seeing the car if you know what to look for. Vipers are a rare car and finding one close to you that is what you want is hard. It took me 6 months to find mine. And if you are interested I am now selling mine its a 2008 Vert with 5,000 miles front to back total service new battery and a custom exhaust and MGW short throw shifter and all service and work has been done by SPT ( Dan Cragen) It's Venom red and we can talk about $$$$ I am asking 67 but will sell for less if its a quick sale

Hi Invadermoose,
I have the Blue/White 2006 coupe First Edition for sale in the classifieds. Worth checking out, I had it shipped to me from Sarasota 2 years ago, cost me $600 total. I drove it to Indianapolis and back on Monday, would make the trip to Florida easily if you wanted to drive it. Have a deposit on a new Stingray so Viper has to go. PM me if you want to talk and I will send you my cell phone number.
What part of Florida are you located?

I found one blue coupe for $45k that looked really nice when I started looking around a year ago, but it sounds like prices have been creeping up some with the new cars in the showrooms. It wasn't too high on miles (don't remember mileage off the top of my head, but for sure under 60k, probably closer to 40k), but I was looking for a driver anyway, so miles and a little wear and tear didn't really bother me much. I ended up flying out to the car I ended up buying to check it out in person and then drove it home. Figured a plane ticket back home would be cheaper than buying a car if things just didn't look right. Shipping isn't too bad typically. I got a car shipped from California to Kansas for around $600. Was a little surprised that they wanted $600-700 to ship from Mississippi to Kansas since it's not all that far, but also probably a less travelled route, so maybe a bit more premium there.

You really need about 53k to buy an 06 couple with less than 10k miles and clean title/carfax. As for a gen IV, you're lucky to get one for less than 57k.

I will let you steal my 04 very from me for $35,000. I'm wanting to move to another car. Located in central ky and would be fairly cheap to ship. Text or call at 5022291327. My ad with pictures is in the classifieds here. The car runs like a champ.

What about the blue 06 coupe for sale here in the classifieds for 47k? Buy a plane ticket and drive it down to FL, it gets 20 mpg on the highway. :)

Yup, that's my blue coupe for sale. Could even loan you the Passport 9500ix but you have to mail it back! :) In 6th gear you are doing 90 mph and 1800 RPM. It's been a great car but the new Stingray is calling me.

I just can't over the way the back of the car looks. I would wait on the Z06, it's gotta look better!

I thought the back looked too much like a Camaro too but in person it looks better. I pan on getting rid of the lettering and doing some debadging to clean the exterior. Will leave the taillights alone.

Way too hard to find a Viper, just get one of these very exclusive 'one of 25,000" limited edition Vettes! They all kind of look the same to me, on a truck in your driveway, garage or any parking lot.

Very difficult to find a viper you can trust. I was prepared to buy unseen from a reputable source (only about three that I would trust and none of them close). I got lucky with my Gen 3 coupe, I had a Gen 2 before. A local doctor bought it new in 06 from the local Dodge dealer (20 minutes from my home) and only put 4048 miles on it. I bought it 2.5 years ago and it now has 12,400 miles. I take it to work about 2-3 times a week. It's a 4 minute commute on a 55mph two lane with no lights or stop signs. It's just about warmed up by the time I get to work.

It's never been raced and is stock. I pretty much drive the speed limit all the time. I am selling my house to build another and will be selling the car to avoid storing it while living in an apt between selling and building the new home. By that time, maybe a 2013 Gen 5 or two might still be available with a reasonable discount.

It's black but I had it striped silver per factory color, dimensions etc by the Dodge dealership. Took two weeks to stripe it. They disassembled parts of the car. If you run your hand over the body, you cannot feel the stripes. There is no lip. Will email pics if you like. I am located near New Orleans.

From what I am reading here Invadermoose has not even mentioned that he was looking for a Low mileage Viper, just a Blue or Red Gen 3 or 4 Coupe.

As for shipping :rolaugh: My car started off in Sacramento to Oakland then container ship down the Pacific coast, through the Panama canal, to the Bahamas, Miami, New York, Halifax, across the Atlantic and finally ended up in Southampton.
Now that's a ride :D

There's a Coupe on the Bay (Blue) for a current bid of $26,000 (reserve not met), Might be worth a sensible offer near your max price? 20k mileage.

They are asking 63k on their website for the car, chances are, the reserve is set to a stupid amount. No way that thing will sell for 50k

Under 50k for a gen 4? Yeah your right, but you can find gen 4 coupes/verts in "less desirable" colors all day for 55k. Even though most are sitting on a 58-62k asking price, i think they are changing hands right at the mid 50s on cars with mileage around 20k.

There are some people that are honestly drunk with some of the prices i've seen. Hell theres a blue/silver gen 3 coupe on autotrader for 60k right now. He'll be sitting on that one for a long time, unless its worth the money to someone.

If you take a look at the sold listings on ebay you can get a good idea of what these cars change hands at, and ive seen some stupid deals over the last 2-3 months. There was a few 03-04 verts and mambas sold for 36, 37, 39, 42k, respectively. All look to be in great condition with around 10-20k miles. I saw a 06 blue stripe delete coupe with low mileage sell for 47k, the car had a set of iforged wheels, paxton, motons, full exhaust, and 5k+ in audio. The deals are out there from people that actually want to sell them, and not just sit on them.

Last point to the OP; I wouldn't rule out convertibles. I was exactly like you in my search, i didn't want anything but a coupe--just because i couldnt get over how beautiful that rear 3/4 is. But in reality, there is something extremely special about being out there in it, that you just miss out in the coupes. In fact after driving more and more convertibles i started liking them more and more and more, and now, the coupes feel slightly claustrophobic to me. I really wouldn't count one out until you've driven both.

I agree the coupes look better than the verts, but as other's have said, don't dicount the verts completely. As for tracking, adding the roll bar isn't a big deal. I had mine powder coated silver to match the car, and my other interior pieces, so on top of the added safety, it really makes the car look a lot better than the factory "whatever you want to call them". Plus, it's really nice to have the top down cruising with the right weather.
I live in Chattanooga and looked for a while before heading to Indy to pick mine up when I bought it.

Just listed my 2006 on the auction site to go with the club listing. Priced to sell! If she doesn't sell I have a hard offer from the dealership. Would like it to go to a club member.

Thanks, Mike

Verts are great !.....Ive had several vipers and mostly coupes.Current and last are verts.Put a powder coated autoform in my 06 red....looked great.Realistically how many owners go to a track?I bet percentages are pretty low.Putting that top down is fun in good weather too.I never figured why viper verts are less then coupes when other car place a premium on verts i.e. vette, porsche etc.

Scarcity, especially for Gen III. Convertibles were made from 2003 to 2006, coupes only for the 2006 model year totaling approx 1000 cars. Take away the totaled ones and you get into a rare car.
