I have a 2001 Gen 2 GTS. I find the alarm system a big frustration. If I leave the key in the ignition the unit will sometimes just lock,,,,,,,,,,, if the battery drains a little,,,,,,,,, the car will lock automatically etc.

I really do not need an alarm so my question is can the alarm simply be disconnected with minimal effort??? The car came with a Clifford FOB and I would like to know if the system is all Clifford? I can find no information Clifford alarms. And I would like to possibly reprogram the unit and perhaps make unit somewhat functional and user friendly.

Any help is appreciated.
Regards

Hmm, not sure about the gen 2, but I thought my mom's 94 had a TRW alarm system that was basically the same thing Chrysler used across the board. I know that because I wired the "trunk" output on the key fob that goes to nothing on the Viper normally to a door popper to open the driver door. The module is the same as used on other cars and has all the same outputs, they just weren't wired to anything. Don't know if that module is just keyless entry or if it contains the alarm system as well. Might see if you can find a part number to look it up. Guessing it might not be unique to the Viper, so if you can expand your search you might have better luck finding info.
