Replacing the head gasket on my GTS and will be replacing the thermostat as part of the work. Notice there are different temperature thermostats you can use. Which one would you recommend? I am a weekend cruiser, no tracking, located in the Seattle area.

Whatever you choose, do NOT let anyone and I mean anyone tell to that a lower temp thermostat will make your car run cooler.

NAPA has 1 @GTS Dean used that has holes drilled to allow some coolant to pass when cold.

Drilling holes will help immensely with the burping process. I sell new Mopar 185 degree thermostats and I think I have a NAPA 180. Helps the car to run cooler...................... while driving :D

I changed my upper and lower radiator hoses..someone here on the fourm suggested to get a fill kit (funnel like kit), anyway that made getting the air out super easy. It took 4 gallons of antifreeze pretty quickly and the temp gauge is always within specs with the manual.

Except for me, Running a 180 in my 96 and the car ABSOLUTLY runs cooler. Albeit, not when you are driving spirited. But, when you are just cruising on the highway and back roads, it most definitely runs cooler, my car at those times runs at 180 deg.
Don't make me prove it.

You’re getting confused, what a thermostat do is controlling the minimum temperature
The maximum temperature is controlled by the cooling system Btu’s capacity
Who the f&$k care about minimum temperature?
Issue is the maximum temperature under load/heat and your lower thermostat do squat do lower it

I am far from confused. The statement posed is the car doesn't run cooler with a lower stat and I say it does (under certain conditions).
In the statement, load wasn't mentioned, I mentioned it.
No confusion here.

Cooler minimum temperature is bad, cooler maximum temperature is good

HUH? We are talking about 180 deg stat, not 100 deg stat (or no stat) running at 0 deg F outside and the car never reaching operating temperature!!!

OP, if you want your Cabin Temps slightly cooler when cruising and your AC to feel slightly better, put in a 180 or 185

When Chuck Tator had my car (he did some work because I didn't have time), per his recommendation, he put in a 180 deg stat. Glad he did!
