    Oil Pressure

A true mechanical gauge will move like a tach needle. The Viper's is only a little better than the apparently worthless Mustang unit. Intentional to avoid "my oil pressure is 2 lbs less than his" complaints.

Tony-Viper Mad- ~ Thanks~ & enjoy a well deserved break from the site

Tony, Remember when you asked me if I had loaned my Avatar out to a Viper Alley guy? I confirmed that I hadn't so you redirected his to say "I SUCK!" in big blue letters. I think he liked it as he ran with it for several months. Anyway, many thanks Tony. I can only hope it's temporary...

    brake bite

Call me crazy but I find the stock pads a great compromise between braking power, dust and durability.

    hole in overflow bottle

As Jack mentioned, when the lower fascia gets pushed up because of a speed bump or low curb impact, one of the sharped tipped lower fascia bolts punctures the bottle. I cut the offending bolt in half and ground it smooth to prevent impact. Total removal is another option.

    spring startup problems

Full tank minimizes the amount of air in the tank. Less air equals less condensation in your fuel.

velcroed the driver side floormat today.

Punch a hole through the top corners near the seat, gromment it and wire tie it to the seat frame. 5 minutes and foolproof.

Went to the track today, results were bad

As you try to eck out every tenth, be careful of that 3 ~ 4 shift. Could easily become an unintended 3 ~ 2 upshift in the heat of the moment.

Rubber around door windows, part # or name?

Another option. No disassembly and almost 3 years later still looks great. Prior Post Link

VOI9 prices - holy #@!$ !!! am I the only one who thinks this is crazy?

Re: VOI9 prices - holy #@!$ !!! am I the only one who thinks this is crazy Based on the amount and quality VOI7 memories I have (the only one I attended) it's worth every penny. My wife and I will be going to VOI9.

    Should I buy a 1996 or 1997 B/W GTS?

1996 & 1997's have the same dash. 1996 & 1997's have the same power. Some early 1997's had cast wheels. No 1996 had forged. All TSB's either have been or can be performed on either car. Running changes should be no issue. (alarm, battery drain, etc.) Both came with ATF as...

    5 pt or 6 pt......pros and cons

You can have both. Something like a $35.00 additional cost from Jon B. The six points (Team Techs at least) use the OEM seat belt mounts and while the five points use the OEM bolt mount in front of the seat. I mounted the eye bolt there and the six points on the sides and tried both. Much...

    Cruise Control

None that I found. I can also recommend but seems to have something of a Viper Tax included.

Went swimming in my viper ...

The windshield leak is fairly typical (center top) and is usually the result of a hollow in the roof frame that the normal amount of urethane don't fill. I had to have my windshield removed (broke it) and the frame hollow glassed then a new windshield installed. The heavy rain overwhelmed...

Opinions on swapping 98+ dash into a 97 GTS

If anyone is interested, I do have a brand new OEM 1996/1997 airbag switch update package which includes the 1998 dash panel mentioned above, the airbag switch, the indicator light and all required factory wiring. Easy installation and I can e-mail the instructions if anyone is interested. It...

    Clutch Reservoir Question

BnI is probably correct, but the fill line is 2/3 of the way up. The huge cap seal will raise the level the rest of the way.

    Stock 98 GTS wheels

I know of no changes and yes they are clearcoated. I installed a set on my '96 to avoid the cast issue of the original '96 wheels.

    GTS Drone

Drone is caused by the exhaust system, not intake. GTS's never had intake canisters and smooth tubes cause no sound change. You may be thinking about the fact that K&N's have a whistling effect at certain throttle positions. On the exhaust side, if your system is stock and you find the...

    Oil pressure?

Make sure you have the right dipstick. Drain your oil, change the filter then carefully add in the correct amount for your year Viper. (What year is it?) Check the dipstick at that point and verify that it's correct. This sounds like low oil level to me. www.blackstone-labs.com will send...

Update: found my leak, or maybe it found me

I love Google: LaPlace's Law The larger the vessel radius, the larger the wall tension required to withstand a given internal fluid pressure. For a given vessel radius and internal pressure, a spherical vessel will have half the wall tension of a cylindrical vessel.

Side Sill Screw Popped Out-----Need Replacement/Fix

You probably didn't loose the screw as it's most likely stuck in your back tire. That's what happened to me at least. I now use silicone seal on the threads to prevent a re-occurance.
