The Viper is available, but the girlfriend isn't. She's going to Oklahoma for a couple of days.
I have a weekend pass!
I'm going to try to get the new Kumhos mounted on the rear wheels tomorrow. That's about all I have planned for right now.
Probably going to take the white car to the track...
Seeing those two girls reminds me of a joke I heard once.
A woman asked her boyfriend if he could fulfill any fantasy in the world, what would it be?
He responded, "I'd want to have sex with two girls at the same time".
She said, "what makes you think you can satisfy TWO girls"?
His...
My understanding is that the roller rockers will effect the air/fuel a little, making it leaner, because you're flowing more air.
I don't know if the octane rating will play a part in much, other than increasing your chances of detonation.
Any updates or additional opinions on the power adder + gear debate.
I've got the Roe S/C and I'm interested in getting down the quarter mile in the quickest time possible (in addition to the impromptu street races that occur from time to time). Pure straight line acceleration is my only...
I was at the dyno. Sean wasn't. He was 1500 miles away in Florida. I'd make a pull, call Sean and tell him what it did. He'd walk me through some adjustments and I'd make another pull. We kept doing that until the tune was close.
The car was tuned to pretty much 11.9 across the board.
If...
I just got done doing some "remote tuning" with Sean Roe this afternoon. The guy just got out of the dentist's office, it's his birthday, he's driving in the pouring rain, and still helped me get my car tuned over the phone. This guy is superhuman.
The mods on my 1998 GTS are:
K&N...
Wow. That's almost exactly the opposite of what I was told.
When I asked around about doing gears, almost everyone said "if you're going to stick with the bolt-on stuff like headers, exhaust, rockers, etc, then the gears are a great mod. But if you're going to do a power adder like a blower...
Thanks.
The car is getting exhaust work done tomorrow. After that, I'll probably pick up throttle bodies (along with the modified airfilter box and new smooth tubes) and probably 1.7 roller rockers. I'm hoping with a good tune on the VEC 2 that the car will make 600 rwhp/650 tq on pump gas.
I have a 98 GTS with the Roe SC, 8# pulley and water/meth injection.
I was just wondering if there is much hp or tq to be gained by switching to the 70mm throttle bodies?
Do you have to do any other modifications? Bigger diamter smooth tubes? Different airbox setup?
Thanks in advance,
JB
Where should the dyno shop put their wideband o2 sensor for the most accurate reading on our cars? I don't have a special bung installed yet?
My guess is that they would want to use the sniffer. Where should I tell them to install the o2 sensor instead?
What were the hp/tq numbers before the Roe install?
Did you get the methanol injection kit?
How was the tuning on the card that you received with the kit? Did it require a lot of additional tuning after you go to the dyno?
Thanks in advance,
JB
I have a 1998 GTS. The temperature from the factory cats is killing me.
I have read perhaps every possible thread on this topic, but haven't been able to piece together an answer to my question.
I have a few options available to me (because I live in a non-emission state).
I can:
(1) cut...
I guess you've got a point about The Boss. She's not too bad on the eyes, either.
I think Mike is more concerned with looks than making big power right now. I could be wrong, though. I know he was thinking supercharger anyway. Who knows.
I'll be curious to see what the bidding goes up to.
I have unlimited bidding authority from The Boss. :)
She told me she'd rather that I spend every dime I have and be broke with a twin turbo kit than listen to me complain because I couldn't have it. :D
That's what makes her a keeper. :2tu:
I haven't made a final determination of what...
That's what I'm talking about! I have a "10 second or faster" rule in my garage. So far the Supra and the 954rr qualify. Now I need to get the Viper in that category. 414 RWHP is not NEARLY enough. :)
What kind of gains can be seen by tuning a VEC2 on a basically stock car (just K&N drop in filters)?
Is there more to be gained by tuning if you install headers/highflow cats/exhaust?
Thanks,
JB
Just signed Jacki and I up today!
I think we're going to opt for the T-Bones game instead of the drag racing on Friday night. I think we spend enough days at the dyno and at the track. :)
I've had my 98 GTS for about 3 weeks. Being moderately well known as a drag racer, I get the following questions:
1. What kind of power does it make? (414/449 bone stock so far)
2. What does it run? Don't know. Haven't been to the track with it yet.
3. Is it as fast as the Supra? No...
When you order the Kumho V700's, do you order them "heat cycled", "shaved", or standard? Those appear to be the 3 options when you order these tires.
Thanks in advance,
JB
