Raced a new vette last nite from a 20 mph roll. My Viper wheel hopped bad in first and when I hit 2nd hard the tires spun & the car fishtailed so bad I had to get out of it. I need to make a change !! Would like input on which tire would be best to get. Kumhos or drag radials. All opinions are welcome. Thanks !!

Bo don't know ????

I was spinning & fishtailing so bad in 2nd gear I had to get out of it. By the time I could get back into it the vette was pulling away. Sorry guys !! I will go back for a rematch as soon as I get this traction thing straightened out. The vette was brand new with headers and a Corsa exhaust.

What kind of 18's fit on the SRT that look okay? What do you have on your Snake Viper D? I have a VCA edditon and will have my my car back from DLM soon. I want to just have an extra set for the back when I go to the strip. What will match the front VCA smoke wheels?

Kumho V700s on all four.

Best of both worlds (straight line traction and cornering).

Just don't drive much in the rain...

Straight line, drag radials. Nittos for the street and BFG's for the track.

Haven't tried the Kumhos yet but they will probably be better handling, just not as much traction in a drag race.

You'll want to relocate the emergency brake for the 18 inch install. Call Archer racing, $150 for the part and an easy install.

KUMHO ECSTA V700s on the rears!

My 60' dropped from a 1.89 on Pilots to a 1.68 on Kumhos at the track.

My 1/8 dropped from 8.0 to 7.5 and my 1/4 dropped from 12.3 to 11.6.

On the street if I cruise at 3500-4000rpms in 1st waiting to race someone, I can nail it and dead hook. With the Pilots I would be off the road somewhere.

For safety, Kumhos are the way to go, with Pilots your life is at risk.

I have raced solid low 11 second cars and high 10 second cars from a roll and the Kumhos allow you to STICK (no pun intended) right with them.

As far as I am concerned there is no better street or strip tire.

As a comparison -

My Viper cut a 1.68 60' on Kumhos and my 470rwhp Stang cut a 1.66 60' on BFG DRs on the same day at the track. On the way there I was able to hang with my Stang (my buddy was driving it) from a roll as I hooked while he spun.

Hope this helps,

Howard

When you order the Kumho V700's, do you order them "heat cycled", "shaved", or standard? Those appear to be the 3 options when you order these tires.

Thanks in advance,

I just ordered them regular.

I did not have them shaved or heat cycled.

You just have to drive on them for a couple of days and then all is well.
