Owner of the 2001 Dodge Concept Viper GTS-R

Yeah, they were converting the old Viper assembly plant to a large meeting space and were still displaying cars there from time to time for company stuff (and I think you can rent it out as a conference center kind of thing). So all the cars are still around, just not necessarily on public...

    Differential Unit.

You could also swap up to the gen 4 setup. And I'm not sure I would necessarily call the gen 3 unit "weak". I think the bigger problem people had with them was the locking unit itself. I think it tended to lock and unlock a little more inconsistently or something like that, so it wouldn't put...

    European Gen IV versions?

Can you even put a gen 3 motor in a gen 4? I would think the controllers and stuff would not get along as the gen 4 went full CAN bus and the gen 3 was still the PCI setup. Maybe I'm wrong there though. I know the engine controller itself would have changed at minimum, but I guess that's easy...

    European Gen IV versions?

Never heard of that before, but I'm not that in the know when it comes to export stuff. Don't suppose you have any links or pictures? I could maybe see them keeping the old engine due to emissions issues or something where it was already certified and they couldn't get the new one approved...

Gen 3 vs 4 blocks and cranks

Only 2005 and 2006, but I think you also have to have a computer to match that. Guessing you couldn't put a 2006 block in an earlier car and run it on a 2004 computer for instance. You'd have the crank sensor issue as well. Seems like the 05/06 was kind of like the old "gen 1.5" in that way...

    Gen 1, Gen 3 engines

Yeah, whole different control system between the two, so that is going to be a big challenge. Physically speaking they are similar enough sizes that you probably could swap them, but actually getting the car to do anything after that is going to be the difficult part. I'm guessing the front...

Door popper, keep it or cut it?

I added one to my mom's 94. It's kind of handy on those gen 1s just because they don't have the inner door handle. They can actually kind of help with security as well in a way. If you have a set of solid windows in the car with no slider, you can just shut the door and it's almost as good as...

    Changing rear gears

The speedometer runs off of the wheel speed sensors, so I believe it should auto adjust without you having to do anything. It just cares how fast the wheels are turning, not the transmission like earlier cars.

    New viper owner

Very cool, welcome to the group! That one definitely stands out in the crowd even more than a normal Viper.

    Stock amplifier Pinout Diagram

Here you go. I got very familiar with these since I had to rewire mine, lol. I actually managed to figure out the connector part numbers as well. I got at least one mating connector so I could use factory wiring and plug aftermarket stuff straight into the harness instead of slicing things...

    New front tires 275/40/18?

Good to hear. Usually such a small step shouldn't cause much issue unless you are pushing the limits of your suspension already (like something heavily lowered). I know my back tires have kissed the inner fender on my car from the look of it, but I think some of that is also just old tired...

What is normal Valve train noise?

Have you got any mods on your car? The open nature of the hood vents add to the noise some I think. I put a cam in my car and had to swap to hardened pushrods and different springs and mine was really loud as well. Certainly more than stock, but even before sitting at a stoplight with the top...

    Reducing Underhood Temps

Wow, that's odd. Do you have any mods on the car other than the headers that might cause extra heat (like a supercharger)? I know that area in general can be a pain for a lot of people with aftermarket exhaust, but it's usually more of a routing issue where the wires end up touching the actual...

SRT10 - searching subwoofer disassembling instruction

I forgot there is another ***** on the top outside by the door jamb on either side, but that one should be pretty easy to see. I think it's just the six screws (and the roll hoops) that hold it all in there though. 2 screws under the plastic sill covers, two above those by the door jamb, and...

    A/c compressor pre-oiled?

I think just about any replacement A/C unit comes pre-oiled nowadays, but hard to say for sure. Any chance you can call the place you ordered it from to confirm?

Gen 3 Interior Top of Door Trim Failure

Yeah, I don't really blame you. I know it's there, but I don't really deal with it if I don't have to.

SRT10 - searching subwoofer disassembling instruction

Getting access isn't too bad. You need to pull the covers over the side sills first. They just lift straight up and are held in with push clips. That will let you get to a ***** that holds the rear panel behind the seats on. Slide the seats forward and you should be able to see a ***** on...

Black accent around exhaust pipe outlet

Yeah, it's all part of the rocker panel. The groove around it is just pressed into the panel to set it off more. You could paint it whatever you wanted. I think I have seen some be body colored, though you'd just need to be careful to get high heat paint probably.

2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Not starting after going into dash Part 3

Something about the wiring diagram just doesn't quite make sense to me. It looks like the key gets power from battery and sends that power down through the push button, which then goes through the clutch switch and to the starter relay. That being said, the BCM and PCM also get in on the game...

Gen 3 Interior Top of Door Trim Failure

You might post on the Facebook page as well. You'll likely get a lot more eyes seeing it there than you will here. The forums used to be a lot more active, but they have turned into a bit more of an archive and tech section than the social scene that they used to be. A lot of owners are also...

    Stock motor mounts, Gen 1

I know on the aftermarket mounts a lot of people will even just grind that little button off on one side because they can be a real bear to install. The nice thing about them the aftermarket ones as well is that they are fully interchangeable since they don't use the finger safety design, but...

2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Not starting after going into dash Part 2

I highly doubt it wouldn't start with just the low fuel indicator on. I know I've run mine pretty close to the edge several times and that light normally comes on with a few gallons left in the tank, so would hope it wouldn't disable anything. That being said, if that signal isn't making it...

    I ask for help

Do you have a product called "Heet" over there or something similar (https://www.goldeagle.com/product/iso-heet-fuel-line-antifreeze-injector-cleaner/)? It's an additive you can put in gas that helps break down the water in fuel. I have a 71 Vette that years ago I remember being able to see...

    Treating Faded Seats

I've never really managed to find any good care info for the insert parts of the seats. I imagine they are either suede or alcantara. You can find some info on how to deal with suede, but less so for alcantara. Generally speaking if it has sat outside I would assume it has just sun bleached...
