Vipers Run the Kentucky Bourbon Trail July 30-31, 2011

I'm biting my tongue because I know where it is, and I've been wanting to do a shoot there myself for a long time. I'm definitely bringing my "nice" camera and plenty of digital storage.

Lamborghini replica with a Viper motor

There's no way I'd buy a 600-hp Viper-engined kit car (or any high-hp kit car) that had not been tested for safety, handling, etc. The speeds you can achieve are nothing if you can't keep the car from coming apart at 150 MPH or live through a crash "the real thing" would have no problem...

    Do SRT-10 Convertibles Flex?

When I pull my Gen 4 into my driveway, I always take it an an angle to keep the splitter from rubbing. I had a friend back it out one day to verify what I'd been feeling -- the car has two wheels in midair (on opposite corners) when one wheel is up on the driveway and the other is on the road...

Vipers Run the Kentucky Bourbon Trail July 30-31, 2011

There's another video up there on that Youtube site, not posted here, that will definitively prove the difference between a 400-HP Gen1 and a 600-HP Gen2... just watch the first minute of "DSC 0630"

Vipers Run the Kentucky Bourbon Trail July 30-31, 2011

You can see the "raw" 10-minute-long longform videos of the drives also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RO9JLbrmUU&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoSyhDlSQ-w&feature=related The, uh, wind noise makes it sound like we might be going faster than we actually are. We obeyed all...

Vipers Run the Kentucky Bourbon Trail July 30-31, 2011

Thanks! I know it could be polished more (Windows Movie Maker, natch), and the suction mount I used for the camera made the footage a little jerky, but you get the overall idea. I'm excited to have a bunch of Vipers out here in my backyard!

Vipers Run the Kentucky Bourbon Trail July 30-31, 2011

This weekend Stretch and I did a little mini-run through of part of the planned Bourbon Trail drive. As a little treat, I put together this "commercial" for the upcoming event that includes footage of us cruising! Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJM4ztoolJM

Vipers Run the Kentucky Bourbon Trail July 30-31, 2011

It could certainly be arranged... perhaps while we're pulling into Malone's at the end of the day though... not while out testing the throttle and suspension ;-) I could also possibly arrange some police escorts pulling in at the end of the day... I know a few cops that are big car fiends and...

Vipers Run the Kentucky Bourbon Trail July 30-31, 2011

Nice little article about the recent boom in bourbon sales and mention of the draw that the Kentucky Bourbon Trail has become for tourists... Even if you're not a drinker, bourbon has a fascinating history in Kentucky! Really looking forward to this weekend...

    SRT Track Experience

I've been twice, once in 07 and once in 08 (after purchasing a Charger and Jeep SRT-8s), they were very fun events, but agreed that they're not for instruction. They're as much to push the SRT brand as they are to let you get time driving. Paul Hawker, I think the modules have changed...

Went to a car meet..porshe guys not happy

I'll add that in order to be accepted at social events like a Cars & Coffee, it usually helps if you're, you know, social. I mean, I love having people gawk at my car, but I at least take the time to get to meet a few other car owners and ask about their rides, too.

Went to a car meet..porshe guys not happy

I'll second that... around here there's no Porsche/BMW/Vette/ etc snobbery. Sure, there's good-natured ribbing that goes on, but generally, every show, race, or car event I've been to (with any of my 3 SRTs), I've seen nothing but respect given by other "nice" car owners. If anything, you're...

Same here, I usually have Fridays available.. I might be down for a little scootin' around pre-event.

    My Viper MATTE BLACK *pics*

VERY fake looking. If it's real, congratulations. Post up a pic with all the camera metadata still in it though.

Tail Of The Dragon 2011 Pictures & Videos!

Looks like a blast, the Dragon is only about 3 hours away from me, but I've still yet to go. I'll have to just put my foot down one of the days (probably the right foot) and just go! There's a website out there where the local photographer snaps shots of people as they go around one certain...

Gen IV Seat Lowering. Info Appreciated

A buddy of mine and I lowered the driver's seat with the 2" kit the day I took delivery. I was having a celebratory Guinness or three, though, so I don't remember much about the process other than that getting the seat out was pretty easy, relocating the amp(?) that was on top of the floor...

    are vipers rare?

Just a hunch. I go to a lot of car shows, cruises, and other various car things, and if there's another one in the state, I've never seen it. Kentucky doesn't seem too big on Vipers in general, much less ACRs. I would love to be proven wrong, though.

    are vipers rare?

There's two other Gen 4s here in Lexington, but mine is the only ACR in the state I think (and definitely the only ACR Roadster). As for seeing other ones out on the road, I see maybe one or two a year "in the wild", if you're not counting en-route to car shows or meets.

    Airbag warning Covers

I have those exact ones on my Charger and Challenger... the SRT ones. Love em. I was going to get them for the Viper also, but opted instead to just remove the sunvisors altogether.. makes much neater and cleaner looking on the Verts!

    ACR Roadster Model

No, I've not seen one (a model kit for a 2010 ACR Roadster that is...) so I've set out on my own quest... So I'm nerd-ing out somewhat here and revealing my roots as a modeler (more back when I was a teenager than lately), but after lunch today several car buddies and I went by Hobby Lobby (a...

What class would you say the Viper is in?

The "Supercar" moniker to me is as much about price as it is performance... cars that are out of the reach of regular guys like Viper owners (no slight to the assembled here). Vipers are expensive, but still attainable. It seems more to me like a high-end sports car.
