actually, thinking about what I just said and how much some have paid for so little - I think maybe getting it done right by honest charging would still come out cheaper than some of the rubbish I have seen that cost huge sums.
sigh
well I hope out of all this frustration you get more work because guys like you that do check things out and will not proceed until you are saitsifed the quality is up to par - are RARE!
The sad thing is someone always has to pay for the poor workmanship inherited by parts ordered in that...
I wasn't comparing lap times, as they would be likely close in good hands. I was talking about control and safety with big power on public roads... the ability to steer when traction was gone.
I think Fiat needs to be given a chance and shown how valued the Viper is. I don't think they will appreciate being insulted nor encouraged to keep the brand by all the doom sayers.
Let's give them some encouragement because you can bet someone from there will come to this site.
as for the...
I am sure they are a fantastic piece of gear, the stuff they make for Skylines is impressive too.
However to throw out a quaife for one on a street car or a road race car I would question - unless you want to drift.
The fundamental difference is that the quaife is not a true LSD - it applies...
# 3 is a help for an engine that will driven like it was stolen (with a little more noise when cold to go with it), but the rest of it is sad to hear!!! :( John would turn in his grave to see his high stds slip like this. Hope the end result will be worth the extra trouble and expense it...
I'm with Bill on this one too - evolution.
Personally, I'd keep the front section of a gen 4 then turn it into a full front tilt like the Gen 1/2. Why? I think the gen 4 has the best looking front, but the Gen 2 front tilt with easy removal is a pure race car point of difference from other...
not quite
anything less than cog on cog transmission has a power and efficiency loss - period. All these hi tech autos do is make up for power loss by faster shifts, and the sacrifice is still - heat - if you doubt it look at the race cars - they are all still manual. An electric/paddle...
if you are still serious about this - talk to Paolo at CPE Turbos - he has put one in a GTS and can tell you all about the work involved.
It'd be fine for a turbo drag/streetcar, not for road racing in my view. Paolo and others may disagree.
Firstly - while shift speeds are quicker than a T56 manual - this is offset by the loss of power to the rear tires on lower power cars (eg. 500rwhp). This loss of power is expressed as heat.
The cooling required to keep an auto working throughout a real road race will require considerable...
with a torque curve like a Viper V10 I can't see an advantage. What would be the point?
An overdrive on top gear could be useful if you run a lower rear gear but that truck auto will suck more power and add a large amount of weight while the OD will add even more weight.
Maybe a prepped...
wow, that's awesome, and congrats on the record lap :2tu: I would never expect a street capable car of beating a track CC, but the difference is quite large.
was the ACR running slicks of similar size to the CC?
how did the weekend go comparing both cars?
It was great to read your comments in earlier posts. A CC would be the perfect platform for an 800hp (at flywheel) engine - an easy target when mods are allowed.
very interesting overlay, and impressive how SRT were able to generate significant top end without hurting bottom end.
I like how that no where power drops off below a Gen 1 or 2 motor and it only marginally drops below the Gen 3 for a neglible rpm range. Also, the drop is too small to feel...
I'd just like to say that I have driven a quaife set up on a twin turbo SRT and the difference is ASTONISHING. The prices to buy and install are a bargain for what you get. The safety factor alone of being able to apply power and keep steering the car during wheelspin without sacrificing...
Hey Vic
Sorry I cannot help directly but if you keep trying Jim Morey he will be able to help you.
The alternative is to have DC cc one cylinder of your engine when it is in the shop and we could guess within a few % from there based on the results and compare to blueprint specs.
Basically...
ThnkBig - this is the thread re your son. No father should ever have to bury their only son. But it is awesome how you have been able to live your sons dream and that he is able to share that joy with you in spirit.
I know you've had a lot of fun in that RT/10 and also in that twin turbo...
