The Gen 1 controllers are tuneable. I do not yet advertise on this forum as my webpage is still in progress, but would be happy to help you with this. Feel free to PM.
Do you have a new master cylinder to go with this kit? I found the pedal travel with this arrangement to be a little excessive (front calipers in the rear.) Thks.
This is normal and I have seen it on other cars that use a separate parking brake caliper. The parking brake pads ride on the rotor all the time, the inner pad does not get much airflow and the way the caliper slides there is a bit more pressure on the inner pad.
If you get a new set of pads...
Its a good idea to put some masking tape around the u-joint cups so they do not fall off. Also make sure you replace all the axle straps and bolts, they are one time use.
On a stock engine we saw 6-7 rwhp with the BBK throttle body. You do lose some off idle response. Good for engines with a cam change and higher compression.
I have done it a few times. You need to change to the Gen 2 spindles and brakes in the rear. You need to get a bump steer kit for the rear toe links to correct the angle. A custom brake line is needed to clear the wheel. We used 15 inch Bogarts with a big MT wrinkle wall slick. We used a...
That was a great reply SRT, as stated when changing any Gen 4 controller (new or used). A full relearn process must be done or the vehicle may go into limp.
The Gen 1 1992-1996 Roadsters came with a Borg Warner T-56 transmission. It was the same basic design as they used in the Corvette but is not interchangeable
The Viper transmission has had many upgrades over the years as the torque required for it to handle has increased. Tremec replaced Borg...
I put the finishing touches on a Viper powered 240 Z. Most conversions like this tend not to drive so well, but this Z is a really impressive driver.

I have only seen this happen as the result of the wheel hitting something. I have seen them cracked as well, but it was also from an impact. I have been racing Vipers since 1993 and never have a toe link mount break on its own.
Allan is correct, this is a near stock higher lift cam for a stock rebuild. The only benefit is that it will work with the stock tune and provide better bottom end torque.

This is a common problem with the T56 transmission and 95% of the time has nothing to do with the shifter. There is a shifting shaft (about 30 inches long) that works directly off the shifter. If it gets just slightly bent it makes shifting heavy and will not allow the shifter to return to...
No I am afraid I have not, in the near future I think I will need to come up with some alternative replacement parts for the Gen 1's and 2's. Much is becoming obsolete and hard to get.

Here is a few tips:
Wiggle the spark plug boot back and forth before pulling it off. That will free up the connection and avoid the plug wire connector from pulling apart.
Once all the wires are off, you need to use some compressed air to blow the dust, grit and sand out of the spark plug tube...
Its a fine line when considering bigger wheels and larger offsets. The dynamics of the suspension are limited, so consider your car may ride very harsh and handle poorly if setup with larger wheels, a tire with a thin sidewall and a lower ride height. The car can be setup to look awesome when...
One issue I have found on 2 2003 Vipers recently that failed smog was excessive voltage drop in the cranking circuit. The battery ground needed to be cleaned and tightened. The high resistance would cause the computer to "reset" everytime the car was started.
I have been using custom valved Penske systems since 1996. They are the Rolex of shocks. Price point is higher than the MCS. Lots of options, PM me if you want some info.
The MCS systems are much improved over the early JRZ-Moton systems.
Thanks everyone, I am really looking forward to the event and meeting many new owners. A special thanks to the Southern California Viper Club for helping with the event and Scandinavian Coachcraft for sponsoring the BBQ.
There are some aftermarket VVT cams that are being tested now that should be available in the near future. The issue is they are being developed for racing applications and programmable engine management systems, not very practical for street use. I am currently working with an ACRX that will be...

I have tried all the differential options and always go with the OS Giken Superlock. It has a seemless transition from lock to unlock, runs cooler than a gear diff and has exceptional tractability.
