My question would be why 2 owners with only 4K miles? I get suspicious when I see this. Is there something wrong that they sold it so quickly? Kind of like when I see a resume of someone and they've jumped jobs a lot. Probably nothing but doesn't hurt to ask why.
Got to watch the episode last night. Thought it was good. Agree that James and Jeremy were more busting Richard's chops than busting on the Viper. I really don't understand the marketing folks at SRT though. Why did they provide the very dark blue car? That was stupid. It did not look...
Even though I don't have a Gen 5 on order I received a letter from one of the big 3 Viper dealers saying that production had not started pending some EPA/Clean Air sign off that was hopefully to be received by the end of February. Here's the exact wording from his letter -
"The 2013 Viper is...
Having done a bunch of work to my Gen 3s and 4s over the years, the cars aren't hard to work on. Easier than most actually, most good techs would have no problem fixing it. My real concern is having a tech that takes care of the car and doesn't abuse it.
Too me the biggest issue with finding a good dealer to service your car comes down to finding a dealer that will take proper care of it and you. Hopefully dealers spent a good deal of time going over this point in training. You know, don't let some parking lot jockey drive the car, only let...
Why didn't SRT color the grille insert like this?!! Man it makes the car look off the charts beautiful. If I buy a Gen 5 I am so doing this to the grille. Killer. Ralph ought to see this rendition and stop production so that they can make this change before they start delivering cars.
This is a very common problem on Gen 4s. Usually just a fluid change to Motul 600 or 660 will solve the problem. Factory techs told my local Viper tech that the factory put in Dot 3 when they should have used Dot 4. Change the fluid and I'd bet your problem disappears. I have had this...
Reread my post. I said I used Kenwood systems, not Pioneer. Maybe Pioneer has the problem you describe but my Kenwoods have worked great. I have the top of the line units, you could get a retractable for even less than I paid if you go with the next model lower Kenwood. Either way you can...
I call BS. I've had retractables for years, Kenwood to be specific. Never once had an issue (ok I'm knocking on wood), in fact I even moved one out of my Gen 3 into my Gen 4. So I've had that unit for like 7 years, works great.
And one more thing. The whole head end unit was only a little...
I may be wrong here but the diameter of the wheel doesn't matter when trying to figure offsets. Only the width. Now tire diameter is a different story, taller tires with a different offset could result in a rub.
Curious, has anyone cancelled their order for a Gen 5 because it lost to the outgoing ZR1? Will anyone, with the means, not buy a Gen 5 they had planned to buy because of these tests? If not, none of this discussion will likely matter too much to SRT. Realistically people didn't not buy a...
Too many problems with batteries (mostly lithium ion) for my taste. Remember Dell's problem with their lap top batteries? and now the Dreamliner? and the Volt? and the Fisker? and the Tesla? and ....... The darn things are unstable and because they contain an oxidizer (their own source of...
My Viper Tech used the one that connects to the caliper to bleed by ACR. (It was in for other service so I had him do it instead of doing it myself.) Watched him do it and he did not use the DRB III or a Star Scan to bleed the brakes. He only attached the gizmo to the caliper and sucked away.
In a well equipped shop you can use one of several bleeding devices. Some connect to your compressor and the caliper and suck the fluid out using vacuum or you can use one that connects to the master and pushes the fluid out.
At the track you can just bleed the old fashioned way with a...
I've now had the chance to read the entire link from StopTech - http://stoptech.com/technical-suppor...rade-selection - and I have to say it should be mandatory reading for everyone that tracks their cars or that wants to perform upgrades to their braking system. Really does a great job of...
