You could get a drivers license in a non-tax state (such as Oregon), register the car there, wait 90 days, then re-register the car in your home state. Most states have a use-tax law of some sort that says if you buy something out of state and don't pay sales tax on it then you need to still...
I have the Autoform RS wing, and I think it looks great. However, it is necessary to do the front splitter as well because the downforce will unbalance the car.
Re: Car wont start -- can\'t be jumped -- dead! What is up?
I had a similar problem 2 weeks ago. A stereo installer was doing some work, and put some ground wires for amplifiers on the same connection as the battery ground to the frame. This connection was loose, and as a result I was...
Re: Cold Air Viper intakes-Its a no win
Actually, I'm with vipah on this one. Edmonton, if you're wanting to win over customers you maybe shouldn't be insulting everyone who raises questions based on test results. Vipah asked for technical details, and your response was both belittling and...
Another thing to point out here is that JonB answers his e-mails and calls personally. When you call PartsRack, you are immediately talking to one of the major Viper experts in the country. Another company might hire someone to be sweet to customers on the phone, but all this would do would be...
I would definitely fight the ticket - it could have a big impact on your insurance cost (and whether you'd even be able to get coverage) down the road. While it's good to learn from your mistakes, don't be too quick to take the blame. You were under the speed limit, accelerating strongly (but...
The spacers for my track wheels have a problem, and won't be ready for me to take down. I'll see if I have enough wear left on my street tires; if so then I'll be there. If not, I may at least swing by and say Howdy.
(besides the Rendezvous) - I'm driving down in the speedy car early next week to sort of go walkabout in Southern California; sit on the beach, run over to West Coast Choppers, etc. - basically just goofing off with no agenda. Are there any Viper things going on besides the Rendezvous? Or...
I lost a rear brake spring about a year ago, and have been running all that time without it, haven't noticed any problems. Changed the rear pads twice, rear caliper pins were always well seated.
The EBC rotors are cheap and look pretty decent. The Stoptech rotors are probably the best cooling 1-piece, but get slotted only. 2 piece rotors are the prettiest, but don't waste money on any kind of coating or wash - it gets burned off anyway. Slotted rotors are really the best way to go -...
I'd agree with slaughterj - 98 is probably the best "performance" year. The more refined cars can be better to drive (smoother cam, ABS, power mirrors), but if you're building a beast then I'd go with a 98.
Here's the method that I use to change out the clutch fluid:
1. Get a turkey baster that you don't mind ruining. Suction out all of the clutch reservoir fluid and fill with new.
2. Wait a few minutes - you'll see the impure fluid in the line start to spiral up in the clear fluid (it's...
Well, I don't mean to start a flame war, but I have been modifying my GTS fairly extensively for the last three years and I ran my first quarter mile ever about a month ago. Sorry if you're annoyed, but having you think I'm a poseur never was on my radar screen. If people want to turn their...
For giggles, I decided to start drag racing my GTS. This allows me some sort of track time while I save up for Viper Days next year. Anyway, with old street tires and a very stiff suspension I'm running about 12.7 @ 113, and with the N20 I ran 12.000 (and 12.001) at around 124. Now, I suck at...
Does anybody know about how they handle up to track (as opposed to drag or autocross) use? I have a set of 17" for my track wheels that I haven't mounted yet, but I'd heard a rumor from a Porsche guy that they would melt in about 3 laps
Re: I\'m tired of front plate tickets, need help getting a permanent waiver
aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh. I DON'T WANT TO BUY A BRACKET!!! I want a "get out of jail free" card for whenever I do get pulled over without a front plate. Yes, I know there are after market brackets - I'm sure many...
Re: I\'m tired of front plate tickets, need help getting a permanent waiver
In Washington state, the law says that the state patrol can grant an exception if you'd have to damage the body of your car to mount a plate. My point here is that I don't want to kludge something into the radiator...
I\'m tired of front plate tickets, need help getting a permanent waiver
I got nicked the other day for no front plate - first time being written up after probably 5 pull-overs for front plate. So, because I'm feeling ornery, I'm going to fight it and see about getting a permanent dispensation...
