My thoughts were that these paints have already been used for years by the OEM's.
In particular, Viper has a paint that is compliant - it is not a hard paint. The result is that debris that leaves a stone chip on a hard, conventional paint merely bounces off Viper. I had a 98 Z28 black...
I'm starting the selection process to pick the basecoat system to refinish my hood and fascia - I'll be matching a DuPont ChromaPremium repaint Viper Black with Viper Red stripes.
I will be using an old paint booth that flows from one end to the other - the flow volume is pathetic in my...
Thanks Chuck,
Was able to see a stock Viper hood and as I feared, my carbon fiber one has different recesses with totally flat bottoms. I figure I can trim down some stock grills so they sit on a flat surface.
Tom
I bought a used set for a Gen II carbon fiber hood and they don't come close to fitting.
The grills I bought fit on a highly curged surface - one that drops lower at the aft end of the grill. The hood is a flat surface.
Thanks in advance,
Tom
I'm trying to fit the air intake "strainers" on a carbon fiber hood and they simply won't fit.
They appear to need a fairly curved surface to mate properly while the CF hood recesses appear to be basically flat.
Is there a difference between Gen I and II strainers? maybe I have the wrong...
Regarding Paypal "...don't trust anyone who doesn't accept Paypal..."
Unfortunately, Paypal is the Fraudulent Buyer's tool of choice.
As a seller you can get completely burned by a chargeback (buyer disputes credit card charge.)
You sent the part, buyer says you sent a box of rocks, you're...
Uncensored Quote from B. Traven's The Treasure of The Sierra Madre
"Badges, to god-damned hell with badges! We have no badges. In fact, we don't need badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges, you god-damned cabron and ching' tu madre! Come out there from that [******]-hole of...
Great effort taking and posting these pics. (I usually end up photographing the women after boredom sets in about 2 hours into one of these events.)
But, I am pretty much convinced you simply have to get on your knees and get as far away as possible when you photograph babes. That way you get...
Trying to get the best 0-60 with a stick is very tricky business. Road surface and driver ability become the major factors with a really fast car.
Didn't the GNX way back do a 3.9 0-60??? and something like "high 13"/100mph quarter mile? This was an automatic.
When you start dealing with...
GM -v- Dodge head technology
ViperRay:
Your observation about an unforgiving track handling contributing to slower track times is a reality. Years ago, I borrowed a friends 84 Z51 Corvette and I was having a ball kicking the back end out going around corners. I have NEVER driven another...
I like Viper over Corvette, however, these Corvette issues really bug me:
Lighter, around 3100+
More Hp/Cu.In. (they have quench, we have.... what?... is there a name for it??? @#(*$&#*)
Hp/lb. engine weight is off the scale. Engine is 200-300 lbs lighter. (HaHa, could put LS7 in Viper...
That's just it. Poor Wayne paid people to work on it and to make a long story short, the hood/fascia gap outside the RHS headlight was almost TWO INCHES!!!!!!!
Almost 1/2 of that distortion was due to aft hoodpins that put the hood in longitudinal compression and trapeze lift springs that were...
Dean!
HaHa!
I'm getting packed to go back to PA. Have a lot of pics along the way, however, I HAD to post a nice final pic (this is NOT 'shopped - haha).
(Hoosier Daddy: Yes, this is Wayne's hood w/o any structural modifications. Yes, it is amazing. I still can't believe it.)
NOTE...
Well, I started bolting things down and working thru the fog hole is not bad. The only difficult headlight stud is the inner, forward one that goes to the frame bracket. You have to hold the nut with your 2nd and 3rd fingers to get it started.
One other item: Doing this method is the easy...
Tony,
HaHaHaaaaaaa
I've that that #*$&& fascia in my hands for hours and I never saw those slots!
I guess its because I've spent all my time laying up glass on the inside - haven't turned my attention to the outside yet.

Assembly CATCH-22.
When to bolt down the headlights? Before or after fascia install?
Frankly, it is difficult to snap the fascia over the RCP's with the bracket and brace loose. With the headlights bolted down it will be extremely difficult to accomplish.
I'm considering bolting the...
Hemi,
Yep I'm making shims. Local ralley car builder gave me some scrap plastic that appears to be exactly what Dodge uses.
I had to insert 7/16" additional shims, so my isolators are out of the hold.
Since this plastic is thermoplastic, I can heat and bend it, so I bent up a "shim box"...
