Re: Dyno HP #\'s, 3.55\'s vs 3.07\'s
Joe:
My speedo is dead on with the recal box (very accurate). At the finish line of the Silverstate I was clocked (Radar) at 165mph, my GPS said 165 and my speedo said 165.
A not too noticable down hill stretch probably is more likely the reason. This I...
Re: Dyno HP #\'s, 3.55\'s vs 3.07\'s
I read the article. I didn't slow down as it says - I red line in fifth and speed up after the shift to sixth. It is fact. I did 184 mph and it still had more in it. I have a pic off my GPS I can post if will help prove any point. I had dynoed at 410rwhp...
Re: Dyno HP #\'s, 3.55\'s vs 3.07\'s
I keep reading that top speed is sacrificed with a rear gear change. It is not so - you just get into sixth and keep increasing speed. Although it is probably not recommended to use that small gear for extended top speed runs (heat, etc.), sixth gear becomes...
George:
No problem with the Jeep. Here's the rig I used for a couple of years with no issues. This '98 Jeep has the 5.9L so it has more torque, but you should be fine.
I'll be towing my Snake to VOI. Perhaps we'll cross paths when I drive through New Mexico.

Sean:
That's some good input about the 10-15 loss. Everyone tosses this around, but for some reason it isn't well known.
Only someone with many Dyno pulls under their belt really knows.
Thanks.
Nothing on the harnesses, at least when I bought mine.
K&Ns (which are washable) and the shocks are the main changes. Otherwise the regular manual suffices.
Enjoy your Viper! :2tu:
Bill Bagshaw ran the one mile Shootout in Ely in his stock '96 GTS at 157.8 mph and the half mile at 127.0 mph. This was at an elevation of about 6500 feet (much higher than Sand Hills). I would think he would have broke 160 at a considerably lower elevation.
Nino Valmassoi did 132 in the half...
Nino, one of our SoCal members, did the Autoform Bar and then installed a display at the rear view mirror locaton connected to a rear view CCD Camera out back. It's pretty cool and his bar passed tech for the NORC high speed event and 1/2 mile drags. :2tu:
On the amusing side, he got pulled...
On a brighter note, we last saw Jesse cruise by in his GTS, when 34 SoCal Vipers gave the Camp Pendleton Troops a farewell send off at their base. :usa:

Fellows: Can we please leave this as an upbeat General Viper related post?
Do you understand that Jesse not only looks forward to his Viper Magazine, but also surfs this board frequently?
Please take this over to the Snake Pit, or better yet - Stop.
Nice numbers. It's been sort of known that most stock 450 HP Gen 2s run in the 395-405 range and that coincides with a typical 12% drive train loss. That would indicate that your bone stock winner is putting out 480, not 450 ponies at the engine.
For discussion purposes let's compare your dyno...
Gunnery Sergeant Jose (Jesse) Barajas, SoCal Region Viper Club member, finds time to enjoy his Viper Magazine
Take Care Jesse!
Hope you can get home soon to your wife Sandra, your kids Deanna and Jesse, and of course your '97 Blue/White Viper GTS (license plate: Meduzza). We...

Who\'s going to the One Mile Drag Race in Ely, Nevada?
A new event is offered at the Nevada Open Road Challenge this year on May 15. The Inaugural Silver State "High Noon Shootout" is a One Mile Drag Race. This is where our Vipers really shine. Who's going to be there?
It's not too late to...
I got over this problem too several years back, but I thought my Viper Tech added a check valve to prevent this. Anyway it doesn't do it now.
Perhaps a knowledgable tech can chime in here.
Manny: Here's what I received from Carlsbad Raceway.
"Hi, We want to invite your group to join us on Sunday, March 28 for the Spring JBA Late model Drags. I hope to see some Vipers out there to give these guys with the Z06's fits! Gates open at 8:00AM with a $20 entry fee
......Jim LeVold, Drag...
Great weekend with some great guys.
A long trip for so little opportunity to make some runs. I think the guy said there were 400 entries just in the Pro class, so a few Vipers were not even on the radar screen. We need to find a nice "late model" event where we can group up and have more fun...
