1996 GTS automatic belt tensioner pulley failure

I'm waiting to break mine at the most inconvienent moment...with the blower pulling so hard on the belt, I broke the front AC mounts. I just replaced my tensioner pulley since it was squeeking, but the tensioner was OK @ 55k miles. I did notice that the tensioner arm is pretty thin (all things...

Maybe a sort of "Metrosexual" automotive identity complex...not a '99 but not an '01....like ViperJeff states...sort of caught between rivaling siblings. Or other comparisions: -Never the bride, always the bridesmade -The fat chick with the skinny friends -The drunk coed at the party -The...

What is a 01 ACR with 15k miles worth?

The 800 lb gorilla in the room that I haven't figured out is...IS HE BUYING OR SELLING ???? The OP doesn't say...."Hey, I'm looking at a mint 01 ACR w/15k miles...what's it worth?" Or...."I'm thinking of selling my 01` ACR w/15k miles...what should I be asking for it?" So which is it?

    Typo or new hood price?

If I recall from my early 1990's days...there was an article I read regarding the post Desert Shield/Desert Storm military draw-down and its effect on military hardware and suppliers, etcetera. The article went on to explain how the company that made the canopies for the F-16 'Fighting Falcon'...

    Belanger header question

I believe this was simply to allow the stock sensor to fit without a harness extention needed, and to address 02 heater CEL that gets set when the sensor is located in the collector (takes longer to get to temp than it does in the single tube which is closer to the exhaust port)...ergo the...

Going to pick up a 2001 ACR on Saturday. What do I need to know?

From CamFab's 2012 post...re a 1999 ACR question. "The original shocks on your car are the Koni 2812 shocks. They are specifically valved for your application, they are probably still available from Dodge. They used to be about $2,500 a piece Dodge pricing. Your original shocks were Gold in...

Going to pick up a 2001 ACR on Saturday. What do I need to know?

Make sure if you are paying ACR price that it does in fact have the ACR shocks (as has been mentioned). They are pricy and I've seen cases of an ACR being sold without ACR shocks to unknowing buyers. There's not much to what makes an ACR and ACR...so the shocks matter.

    SPEC 3+ slipping

Update...well folks, I appreciate the PMs and outreach with options & ideas. All great stuff that I'll archive for future use. I drove the car to work this AM being very easy on the drivetrain. When I got off the tollway, I started to get wiffs of the same awful smell sitting in traffic and...

    $65K

Great point Steve......."The C7 is the cool new thing,..." and just like with smart phones and other gotta have gadetry, the novelty quickly wears-off leaving the consumer searching for the next quick fix. SPEC 3+ slipping

Well…it didn't last as long as I had hoped…maybe 15K miles. After doing some exhaust work over the weekend, I was checking out the new mufflers and I guess I was hammering it pretty good through a few 1/4 mile runs and 3rd/4th gear pulls. Started to smell the infamous clutch smell. So once I...

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2: Best value these days?

Oh I don't know...on hot Florida days mine hooked pretty good and took a lot of abuse on the streets (rears that is). Wore out the rears finally and swapped to R1a. Still running the fronts but after a few years, did notice the fronts tended to drift a bit on hard corners. Again, it all...

8lb vs 10lb? Roe Supercharger gurus welcome!

This is for my 2001 which is a bit different that earlier GTS pump designs. Not sure what year your's is. Here's an idea that I tried but ended up doing something different since the opportunity presented itself. Take the stock line completely off (from the quick connector on top of the tank...

That would probably be a good level IMO. Sometimes its really hard to see the oil film on the dip stick so check/verify your measurements several times.

8lb vs 10lb? Roe Supercharger gurus welcome!

Good Discussion. Its been a few years since I've had to cover this ground again. The biggest thing you can do to kill the blower is overfilling the reservoir. You overfill and you will build excessive heat in the gears and melt the green nylon spyder connector (by design). But it’s not the...

8lb vs 10lb? Roe Supercharger gurus welcome!

There is a difference between max RPM and sustained RPM. Sustained RPM on Eaton and some older Autorotors were listed ~13k-15k...so yes, the older ROEs would fall into this category. But again, sustained vs. max are different limits (also what I have read is that the max limits were not so...

8lb vs 10lb? Roe Supercharger gurus welcome!

Max you can [safely] spin the blower is 18,000 rpm according to Kenne Bell. On a stock crank pulley (7.375 in diameter) and a 10 psi blower pulley (2.5 in diameter) your ratio is 2.95. 2.95 x 6000 rpm = 17,700 rpm. So you are within the margins and should be OK. For comparisons sake, I'm...
