    Production run 4778637AB from china

The data in this thread is all over the place, so let's clarify. You are selling Gen 2 idle air control (IAC) valves, part number 4778637AB. The Gen 3 idle air control valve is still available (part number 05245352AC), but will not work in a Gen 2, hence why you had the Gen 2 IAC valves...

    differential of my 97

If you do the work yourself, I'll warn you in advance that it is time intensive, and requires some specialty tools that you may or may not already have on hand. Due to the time and effort required, I would recommend replacing all bearings and seals while you are in there. You'll be extremely...

Hearing a alert tone ding when in 1st gear before shifting

Do any messages pop up in the odometer? From experience, a low tire pressure warning will make a chime, but it'll also pop up a low/flat tire warning in the odometer. TPMS light may or may not turn on depending on whether or not the bulb has burned out.

Info Wanted: Metal paint samples from manufacturer 1991 & 1992 Has anyone seen this before?

You state that you are not looking to sell them, but the rest of your posts (and your join date) suggests otherwise. Just be aware that it may raise flags for some - it certainly does for me, but others probably don't care. The materials themselves aren't valuable, but the story may very well...

    Big jugs of Mobil1 15W-50 at Wal-Mart

It's a slightly longer drive for you to Ohio, but my local Walmart also has big jugs. Of Mobil 1 15w50 that is.

    Transmission Repair Questions

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Or in this case, your Viper because of the transmission. But I also wouldn't recommend blindly throwing parts and labor at a potentially complex problem like this one without thoroughly understanding the underlying cause. The transmission case...

Running rough after a jump start

Same. Park it, put it on a tender, and leave it be. Having personally witnessed what salt can do to a frame (my daily driven truck), I always err on the side of caution when it comes to getting it out to play from December through about March, sometimes later.

    2008 SRT-10 Coupe - 10 Second Quarter Mile Passes

Thanks! One of the most common questions I received at the track was "does it have traction (or launch) control?" My snarky response was always "yeah, my right foot." I think it was generally understood that Vipers can be a handful, and most had respect for the fact that I was the biggest...

    2008 SRT-10 Coupe - 10 Second Quarter Mile Passes

The gentleman that drove the Chevy truck was one of the track regulars - he was there every single time I managed to show up at a Thursday night test and tune. He gave me many pointers over the years, and is who helped me work through the issues I was having when I switched from a Mickey...

Both windows making a loud sound when lowered

Sounds like a regulator issue to me. My first stop would be the PowerWindowRepair.com folks to see if they can repair what you have. The regulators are poorly designed, and have been a failure point for most Vipers from 2003-2017. Someone many years ago was able to retrofit a totally...

    Viper Dana Super 44 Rebuild (How-to) - Gen 3/4/5 (2003-2017)

Lesson 1 - 3.73s Were Not Ideal For Me I originally chose 3.73 gears for drag racing. I’d been using 3.55s with a 26” tire (Hoosier 335/30-18 DR2) for a few years, and I always felt like the car was just starting to pull really hard after I went through the traps in the quarter mile (trap speeds...

    Viper Dana Super 44 Rebuild (How-to) - Gen 3/4/5 (2003-2017)

I learned many lessons during my first differential rebuild, and I continued to learn many lessons afterward. I'll do my best to capture these in my next few posts.

    2008 SRT-10 Coupe - 10 Second Quarter Mile Passes

There's a lot of background leading up to these 10-second time slips that I won't get into here. I'm posting these to document that it happened even though it was over a year ago at this point. Full details will be covered in my next post.

    Hood Screens

Welcome! The Gen 4 hood vent screens/grilles are not required. They serve no functional purpose other than to keep larger debris (e.g. leaves) out of the engine bay. For racing applications, most prefer to run without the screens. If I recall correctly, the SRT engineers stated that it helped...

Stock Amplifier question on 06 SRT

If I recall correctly, I remember seeing a couple of unused plugs under the waterfall panel (behind the seats). I think they were on the passenger side. My car wasn't optioned with any fancy stuff, so I don't have it, but there are definitely plugs and enough real estate to mount a module like...

    Viper Dana Super 44 Rebuild (How-to) - Gen 3/4/5 (2003-2017)

Full story: I ran into this issue many years ago (~2017) when I swapped a Gen 5 differential assembly into my car. I didn't think I'd need to mess with the calibration since the speedo doesn't care, so I left it alone. During the first few drives, any time I'd let off the gas the...

    Viper Dana Super 44 Rebuild (How-to) - Gen 3/4/5 (2003-2017)

HPTuners Calibration Adjustments (Gen 4/5 Only) As the title states, this section only applies to a small subset of the Gen 4 (2008-2010) and Gen 5 (2013-2017) crowd – those that use HPTuners for a tuning solution. This is not about speedometer calibration – the Gen 3/4/5 cars reference the ABS...

    Knocking at My Back Door?!

Definitely time to start investigating. Answering Old School's question is a good start. It would help to have more info about when you are hearing the knocking sound. In general, there shouldn't be any noise coming from the rear diff. You may experience some excessive lash in the drivetrain...

Pretty sure Wix makes the Gen 4/5 SRT filter. Check out the Wix 57063. Someone on the other site cut open a few different filters and found the following: Mopar MO-041 22.62 PSI average (sample of 3) 38N (Spring force) 17.3mm (Spring diameter) 21mm (Spring free length) 8mm (Spring...

    Lowered Driver Seat

You can modify the OEM track to lower just the rear of the seat. Basically you unbolt the rear feet, grind off a couple spot welds, flip them over, and bolt them back in place. It’ll lower the back of the seat about an inch, but leave the front of the seat at stock height which I prefer. I’m...

    2006 coupe rear shock nightmare

Removing the end links will probably help at least some. Note that the end links have a tapered portion that seats in the A-arms and the bar - they will be in there tight even after you remove the nuts. A puller set like this can help tremendously: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08J6QV984/...

Gen 4 Heads on Gen 3

The composite intake makes a lot of sense for NA applications - lighter weight, less heat transfer, and from what I remember, slightly out performed ported Gen 4 units on the dyno. Considering the majority of Gen 4/5 cars aren't running forced induction setups, it seems like a no-brainer to me.
