I've never had that whine in either of my two Snakes, a 95 RT-10 and a 96 GTS. Is it possible that the person before you already changed the rear end gears and that is causing the whine. I've heard aftermarket gears whine...for sure.
Pass on this car. There are too many issues raised and too many VERY STRAIGHT cars available at good prices to even consider this one. Water out the pipes in itself may be no biggie, but when coupled with talk about head gaskets.....sounds suspicious. Also, the VIN number issue is a dead...
Birvini,
Bill P. is an incredible guy....huh? The most important thing to do before you get to the track is to make sure that you have completely flushed and replaced your brake fluid with DOT 4 or better (synthetic is not necessary). Make sure that the entire system is flushed and bled...
For me, I wish Vipers were LESS refined. My favorite car is my 95 RT-10. It is rude, crude, and lewd, and I love it that way. THAT'S what the magazines miss about the Viper. We buy them (or at least I do) because they ARE more crude than the "fit and finished" Porsche. Crude isn't bad, it simply...
This is indeed an incredible offer. My understanding of "Rookie" is someone who has not been to a Viper Days Event before (as a participant). Believe me, it's more fun than anyone should be allowed to have.
Bob Woodhouse...thank you.
This will be my final .02 (I think). Nobody on this board is saying that Michelin has not been a friend of Viper (but of course they are doing it because they want to be our "buddies"...NOT because they make $$$$). The issue is NOT about whether I would continue to go to Viper Days (I would) if...
Fred,
Your logic escapes me completely. This has nothing to do with Michelin per se, but rather an overall boycott of companies that are owned by those who chose to harm the United States and its military.
You have truly gone out on an incredible tangent asking me why I support Viper...
That is truly unbelievable. Why aren't there more competant techs like Tom Sessions? It's a real problem...not just for Dodge, but all American nameplates.
Fred,
Your argument seemed to lose some steam. You can't say that "there is no need to have Americans lose their jobs because of the UN vote." How else can one make a point to a company that can lean on its government? I'm sure that some Americans lost their jobs [somehow] because we went to...
If the United States were to quiver each and every time an outlaw regime (and yes, at this point I consider the French to be an outlaw regime) were to threaten us with economic sanctions, we would be at the mercy of everyone. Also, while I am not equipped with the facts, it is hard to believe...
There is the macro picture and then there is the micro picture. In the micro picture, I think that we can all agree that Michelin is a fine company that makes good tires and is nice enough to support the Viper Nation and Viper Racing (of course they do this to get the benefit of the tire...
Sylvan,
I reread this string, and you're right. I must have seen the comment in another string. I just wanted to say that IMHO the restriction on racing without a rollbar was reasonable.
Guys,
Don't get down on Viper Days over safety requirements. Skip Thomas does a great job of balancing safety and speed. These cars are FAST on the track and there is always a possibility of a serious accident. Skip wants everyone to return home in one piece. Viper Days is not like a mass...
Chrysler is NOT going to go Subaru. They have been really great about warranty, both with the street cars and the racers. They know that these cars are going to get a little abuse. Hopefully, you did not slam it into reverse by mistake. If that happened, you would understand why they would not...
Hey BacknBlack,
Fortunately for me, Archer keeps the car in MN in between races or the temptation would be too great not take it for a ride through South Beach (Miami) or somewhere like that.
I love the car and look forward to driving it at PIR this weekend. The factory has come up...
A while back I remember seeing a picture of an actual SRT with stripes, or a computer rendition of one. Does anyone have a shot of what a black SRT with silver stripes would look like? Also, have any of you experimented with different designs for the sides or rear quarter panels? Something like...
Guys,
As soon as their wives and Mommies unload the groceries from the NSX, they're going to kick your butt. Know how they are going to do it? Neither do they, but they'll contemplate it, being the great thinkers that they are.
If our cars look like clown shoes (which I love)...I wonder if...
Re: Scott Mead
I have said it before and I will say it again: I can't understand why any Viper owner EVER lets any comparison to the Corvette even register in their mind. Corvettes are NOT in our league...money wise, style wise, performance wise and race wise. Why do we even devote one line of...
