Engine details - two bolt main?

Yes your definitely missing something, the bottom end has bolts in the same configuration as an old school small or big block Chevy. The difference is that the cap fits inset in the block and is side bolted through the block. Far stronger than weak system that old Fords and Chevys had. The newer...

Why would you start a class action law suit. Did you not get covered properly?

Sounds like there is some misinformation regarding the specifics of these cars.

    Gen 5 oil

I agree with you on the Mobil One EP, but I think you'd be better served with the factory filter.

Gen 4 front tow bar warning

Interesting, good catch. I wonder if the part you speak of, is hollow for a specific reason? Possibly part of an overall crumple effect? Aftermarket parts always have a risk associated with their installation, you can't assume a random bolt on part will not have some negative effect that a...

Sounds like some serious fun. Just guessing that your talking about your Gen II, so I'd love to hear your take on the acceleration characteristics between the two cars. Congrats !!

Dodge preparing supercharged, Convertible Vipers for 2016?

My answer is, whatever it takes to kick the poop out of every regular production car, most importantly the Nissan and the Porsche. No holds barred destroyer, as the Viper's original founders had done.

    I find it very ironic...

One other point with regards to brakes. A guy here with a blown Gen II with aftermarket steel braided brake lines had one fail. It caused a total loss of his car. I've never heard of this occurring with those crappy factory brake lines. The aftermarket brake lines never fit right. They are...

    I find it very ironic...

You've hit the nail on one of the Gen II's weak points for sure. However as a general rule, when you have aftermarket parts on the car, there is always a question of long term reliability and availability of parts. I'm certainly not bagging on your brakes because they are a huge improvement, but...

    I find it very ironic...

On rare occasion a factory NON PERFORMANCE part may have issues. Though replacing a defective part has nothing to do with the point of this thread.

    I find it very ironic...

As a side note, the Viper is no different in buyer than any other car. Everyone wants an original car.

    I find it very ironic...

Aftermarket parts are not going to have the same reliability as OEM tested parts. That's a fact, secondly modded cars are always a question mark because you never know what clown did the build. Today's super hero vendor usually turns in horror stories down the road. Anyone here long enough knows...

    1BADGTS...please explain

I guess what comes around goes around. When the ZR-1 had its way with the Viper, the community initially went into denial, then started hating on SRT. It'll be interesting to watch the dynamic over at GM. As much as everyone here and there always talks about Ring lap times and handling, bottom...

    1BADGTS...please explain

Nice win for sure, it'll be interesting to see if this car is an anomoly. As far as a pulley goes, in theory this blower is already being spun hard. I guess time will tell.

I'll pay extra when I need advice. I've never wanted anyone's advice, except for Dan Craigin. So just because you start offering up advice and wasting my precious time, doesn't mean I wanted it. I've listened to your dialogue in the past. You run a business, the advice you spew is part of your...

96 GTS out of Wellborn collection up for auction will set the market

Although I agree with you about the older generation, I disagree about the younger generation. I see more really young kids with crazy expensive cars and everything else than I've ever seen. Bottom line is, it's a buyers market.

96 GTS out of Wellborn collection up for auction will set the market

Trouble is, obviously there isn't a bunch of people like me that are excited about Vipers. If there was, the price would reflect it. Most of the younger generation doesn't get it, they have parents who arrange play dates for their children. They'll never grow up to be men.....

96 GTS out of Wellborn collection up for auction will set the market

These aren't that rare and they make 450 hp. A chick car like the BMW and Lexus make that in their grocery getter models. I don't see any of younger gen kids interested in owning a car they can't tweet and Instagram from. Plus it's a manual which means it would be harder to Facebook. Why would...

    1996 OEM Battery Needed

Matt, and 98912 I agree. That's why I use the proper Optima battery. It never leaks, and as long as you don't deep cycle it, they are very reliable. I do understand wanting the original battery. If it were me, I'd pull the OEM battery out and keep it if you still have it. Put an Optima in there...

    1996 OEM Battery Needed

Something tells me, you could have your original battery redone. I'm sure someone has done this. You'll probably have too look at some other sites with older cars. Hemings might have a lead.
