Tom,
My vote is for the chrome ring. Looks good!
Oh, and BTW, as of tomorrow (when I get mine back from the paint shop) you'll be one of two (if you count silver also).
From what I've seen/heard, if your car has any kind of exhaust and/or header change then tuning will be required. The splitsecond unit that comes with the Paxton is tunable, but from what I understand it's not as easy to tune as a VEC2.
Most stock Vipers that ad the Paxton are getting...
Ditto to what Kai said. I don't have any heat shields on my headers and the black flexi-tubing around one of the lines has melted away on about a 10" long section. That line is about 3 inches away from the headers, too (but the heat still cooked the tubing).
That was the TOPGEAR test of the SRT-10 (do a search and you can find a thread with a link to the episode from a couple of months ago). They thrashed that poor car and it kept coming back for more. The host even did a tire smoking burnout session to spell out the word "Viper" on the track...
Who's coming out with these "new" 19in drag radials? Where did you get the info that they will be coming out? Extremely curious, because I would buy a set in a heart beat.
Yes, the SRT does have cast pistons. The boost on the Paxton kit is relatively conservative, so it should be okay in the long run. Just don't get tempted and start bumping up the boost!
Re: What\'s with the Dirty Looks?
I've had similar experiences. It's always fun to watch people react to the car. Good or bad, it usually inspires some kind of reaction. Never really got that with any other car I've ever owned.
