    battery symbol lit up..

My voltage gauge is not very accurate, it nominally reads 14.5 to 15 V when the computer is seeing 13 to 13.5 V.

    1999 rt10...$2300 to mod...What to do

A 10 qt. oil pan and a radiator upgrade, not any more hp but it does set you up for future power.

    Brake Bleeders Size?

Got a related question..the '99 service manual shows the brake line to the rear wheels tees of near the right rear so the line to the left rear seems to be the longest (haven't actually checked this on the car). So, should I start the flush at the left rear wheel?

idiot light for oil coming on

The past week my oil light has come on a couple of times, it either goes off in a few seconds or goes off when I turn off the car and restart. My oil level is fine and the pressure gauge reads normal, also no codes are thrown. I don't think there is anything really wrong with the engine, maybe a...

    Banned by Lube Shop

I took mine to a well-known Viper tech who insisted that a stock '99 takes 11 qts. of oil. I told him that the owners manual said 8.5 qts. but he said the manual was wrong. Then he went on to fill it with 11.5 qts!

NOISE COMING FROM MOTOR! ANY IDEAS

It might also be the alternator, water pump, or power steering pump (bad bearing). If you do start it again use a stethoscope on those and the engine to may get a better idea.

    Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems

I have had the Smartire system over a year, works great. Mine came with the sensors mounted onto the inside part of the valve stem, not banded to the inner rim.

    hmm...Corsa track fell apart

"304SS (austenitic) offers generally good corrosion resistance in atmosphere. It contains only trace amounts of iron but its primary elements are chromium (18-20 %) and nickel (8-10.5%)." Are you sure that 304 only has trace amounts of iron? The major element in all steels is iron. My tables...

    securing a rt 10 hardtop

I put a picture in the member's gallery, it's dirvers_side_latch.jpg..didn't catch the spelling error..I used a piece of threaded rod for the pin and wrapped the "loop" side velcro around it (that's the white stuff in the picture). I stuck the "hook" side (black stuff) to the top edge of the...

    securing a rt 10 hardtop

I had that problem too. I made pins, about 1" long, that fit into the slots (where the allen wrench goes). The exposed half of the pin is then velcro'd to the underside of the top (using the sticky-backed velcro). It works well.

    Car dies when stopping

Jack B, It wasn't just at idle, sometimes I would be cruising at partial throttle. It would just die, I would turn off the key and then on and it would usually just start right up. It's not what I usually expect from a fuel pump so I thought it might be the alarm system shutting off the relay...

    Car dies when stopping

It could be your fuel pump, same scenario happened to me. It would intermittently quit. It was a pain to diagnose because the car would usually start up right away after turning off the key. Finally it quit while a tech was driving it so he was convinced that was the problem.

    Anti-freeze smell?

I don't smell anything but I drop about a qt. of coolant a year and I can see that there is slow seepage through the water pump gasket from the green crud that builds up. It must only seep while hot and the engine heat evaporates what gets past the gasket (all of the bolts are tight). Any...

creaking popping sound from rear of car?

I had a sort of crunching noise when I was turning from a dead stop. Changed my differential oil and it went away. I had about 20,000 miles on the fluid.

Can the electric cooling fan be triggered sooner?

The thermal switch used in the Roe kit is a standard thermal snap switch. You can buy those in a variety of temp. ranges (switch on temp. and switch off temp.) from most electrical suppliers (Mouser etc.) Bruce

Can you remove alarm module so it's not pulling juice from battery?

Re: Can you remove alarm module so it\'s not pulling juice from battery? Mine is in the driver's footwell on the inside wall, closest to your right knee. It is held in with a rubber band-type strap and there are one or two cable connectors on it. You need to be a bit of a contortionist but it...

Get a strong magnet (rare earth types work best). Open up the hood and from the inside try to coax the screw towards a hole to get it out.

Damn California law, mount front license plate or keep it off...

I really hate giving the law any reason to stop me so I usually keep my Partsrack-style mount on, except when at the track or parked to show the V off. There used to be an exception to the two plate law, the DMV code states that if they issued you two plates you had to mount both of them but if...

    Car Won't Start

Re: Car Won\'t Start I think the wiring diagram is in the manual (don't have it or the car close by to give you more specifics) but I popped the case off of the relay and traced the pins from the relay wiring. To track down my problem I then put a toggle switch in parallel with the NO contacts...

    Car Won't Start

Re: Car Won\'t Start The EEM controls the fuel pump relay. Short out the relay and listen for the pump to go on. If so, it probably is the EEM (or bad wiring). Otherwise it's the pump. I had a similar situation and it turned out to be a bad pump, it would intermittently shut off, drove me nuts...

    PLEASE Check Tire Pressure

I got the Smartire system a few months ago. The sensors I got are part of the valve stem unit instead of band-mounting to the inside rim. I recommend getting the optional pressure/temp display unit.

How long until you got your 1st ticket in your Viper?

Two years. On the way to Vegas. I had my V1 on and was cruising about 95 with a pack of about 8 other cars so I felt pretty safe. Just as I go under an overpass I see a dozen CHP cars lined up and waiting like buzzards on the on-ramp. A plane clocked us all and 8 cruisers pulled everyone over...

    Oil change

"Totally agree! Oil analysis could save you a small fortune someday! " Already has for me. I had a leak in an intake manifold gasket on my Chevy. Blackstone called me as soon as they ran the test to tell me that I had some antifreeze in my oil. I would never have spotted the problem that soon...

    Check Engine Light On

Were you low on gas when it happened? Mine throws a code when I only have a few gallons left. When you do a cold start the pump pressurizes the system and sees if it can pressurize it and how long it takes to bleed down. Air is compressible and gas isn't so it takes longer to pressurize the tank...

is it normal to lose a pint or two of coolant a year?

...from the overflow bottle. The engine is stock. I see no signs of a leak and the oil tests always come back with a clean bill of health? Is it just due to evaporation? Thanks Bruce
