Oil Fill Quantity Question
Same thing here. The Viper Tech put in 11 qts on my '99! On another note, I think I read in the manual that the drain plug washer should be replaced with each oil change. Is this really necessary?- BruceW

Tips for a drive (heat issues)
Re: Tips for drive I just did the trip from San Diego to Las Vegas and back, no problems. Some sections of I-15 around Barstow are undergoing construction and the road is rough so be prepared for a bouncy ride. Enjoy Bruce W- BruceW

My car doesn't want to idle!!
Re: My car doesn\'t want to idle!! Bigfoot, I couldn't see any dirt or whatever. But it was idling a little too low so the tech cleaned them and the injectors when it was in for the 999 recall. Maybe it was more the injectors.- BruceW

gas gauge reading right?
Same thing here. When I fill it the needle doesn't get to the full mark and on empy it still has 4 or 5 gallons left. I don't think there is an adjustment potentiometer on the gauge, a tech told me you have to adjust or replace the sending unit in the tank.- BruceW

How many Vipers are daily drivers?
I drive it daily (when it's not raining). My commute is only 7 miles of light highway traffic each way and I have a fairly safe spot in a parking structure. Driving the V home at night is good therapy for a stressful day at work.- BruceW

Why so much heat?
I do use the V to warm the house in winter (for the few weeks it needs it). I have a fan mounted in the wall between the garage and the house. Vipers do make good secondary heaters.- BruceW

I believe aluminum has a higher specific heat value than iron (takes more thermal energy to produce a temp. change) so once it's hot it releases more energy when cooling back to room temp. Re: New owner... Two ?\'s -- Idle speed and Remote Programming I wouldn't trust the tach's accuracy at that low of an rpm. Plug a scan tool into the OBD port and get a true reading. At idle my gauge reads at 500 but the real value is about 700.- BruceW

Where to get spring valve radiator cap?
Roe Racing has them but there are not original replacements. They are sacrificial anode caps (i.e. they help reduce corrosion in the coolant system). Check the vacuum valve on coolant tank cap. It's the little metal disk on the bottom of the cap. It's supposed to be flush against the cap and has a light spring to hold it shut. What are the proper idle RPM and vacuum specs?
My Viper (6,000 mi, stock with smooth tubes, K&N, and rain deflector delete) idles at about 680 RPM with about 8 to 9 psi manifold pressure (the readings taken dircetly of of the OBD port. Is this within normal specs? Should I clean the throttle bodies? How does one change the idle RPM? TIA...- BruceW
