Looking for an ACR 2008 or 2009

We have a member in Montreal that badly wants a new ACR. He keeps me writing and has called every club member that he had the phone number. He has ordered an ACR backup in September 2008 and the delivery date was set to August 2009. Since Chrysler is under the Chapt 11 protection the dealer told...

    GEN 4 Vipers running 10.4 AFR above 4000rpm ?

Very good guess !!! The issue might be fuel quality related. I didn't think about. But running 10.3 can also ruin the engine. The engin was not at all running smooth above 5000rpm. It was hesitating way too much between full power and no power at all. The guy who drove away from the dyno...

    GEN 4 Vipers running 10.4 AFR above 4000rpm ?

We had a dyno session day in our club this morning. One of the thing that stunned us was the really rich AFR on the GEN4 Vipers above 4000rpm. For some unknown reason the AFR drops from 13 to 10.4 suddenly at 4000rpm causing the engine to loose 50hp. We were expecting 540rwhp and got 490 rwhp...

    Sever GEN4 clutch issues

This issue is not related to the exhaust heat. It is really a seal linking on the clutch master cylinder. Once it starts leaking the clutch is gone within 20-30 shifts. You can't even shift.

Tuning into audible knock, timing and more!

Regarding your engine oil: 15W50 is a too thick oil. You will even loose a couple of HP. Stick with the factory 5w30 or 10W30. 15W50 is good for a BMW M3 which has very different setup.

How to share a VEC tune?

When you save your program in the VEC2 interface you can save it without protection. By default there is a serial number that protects the program. In the worst case you can send print screens.

    Sever GEN4 clutch issues

Guys, In less then 8 months we had a second issue with the cluth master cylinder of a GEN4 Viper. During a summer event a Viper nearly caught fire because the master cylinder started leaking. The driver didn't have much experience and didn't relize that something was wrong. He drove about...

Tuning into audible knock, timing and more!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Schulmann, >>What was your tuning methodology to create the ignition maps? I started from those provided by Sean and adjusted them either based on dyno runs or based on road runs using different logging tool. If...

Tuning into audible knock, timing and more!

To be ownest I think it is a waist of time to install any knock sensor. It won't be enought reliable. The best is to use the ignition maps provided by Sean. They are 100% reliable. And if you are racing or having a dyno session you better buy 5 gallon of VP race fuel and poor it into your tank...

Tuning into audible knock, timing and more!

Hi Eric, The PCM of the Vipers dates back from the 90's. This is a very simple computer with limited capabilities. However this makes the tuning much easier since there is not much to tune (only ignition and fuel in function of the RPM and load). The weakness is the missing knock sensor. The...

    FIAT bought GMs in europe

It looks like Fiat is really buying up GM assets in Europe. They are on Open and on Saab too. Why don't they just buy the Viper brand and let Chrysler sink ?! :)

    Chrysler to file for bankruptcy

UAW as owner of Chrysler ? Will Cuba put en embargo on the US ?! :) Castro is having fun this morning. The dreams of Karl Marx and Lenin are coming true !! And Fiat has a lot of success running state owned companies like LADA and Polski :D It is just not normal that the Union will own 52%...

    FIAT bought GMs in europe

It looks like FIAT is shopping on both sides GM and Chrysler. Somebody just told me that Fiat has bought GM european assets: Opel etc. (It is in the Der Spiegel german news paper). If this is true, it is a major setback for Chrysler and a bad news for the Viper brand. Or is it just a...

Sergio Marchione want $45/h from unions

Sergio Marchione wants $45/h from unions Fiat CIO want the Chrysler's union to give up the 75$/h that they cost and to be as competitive as the Japonese automaker in the State meaning the employees should not cost more than 45 $/h. I think it is a right start but until Chrysler or GM really...

Kumho V700 vs. Michelin P2 vs. Toyo R888????

I have both the Kumho (on ssr rims) and PS2 (street rims). If you want to use the tires for canon carving the Kuhmos are an outstanding choice. Kumho is the way to go for amateur lapping. It heats up very quickly to the right temperature and it can also run on a wider range of temperature...

    Will 5w-30 hurt my engine

If you have a cold thermostat, it is better to run 5w-40 or 5w-30 in the North. In Canada 5w-30 is the way to go in the spring. 5w50 is an engin killer during cold weather. 5W-50 will cause valve floating above 5500rpm. My engin hardly gets upto 160F because I have a cold thermostate. It is...

I just order my Ucoat paint kit for my new VIPER garage. It is already on delivery for tomorrow. I want to insert a couple of car logos between the epoxy and the clear coat layers. What is the best technic to use ? Can I use vinyl cuts or the urethane will dissolve it ? We have a machine...

Need advise for heavy duty garage floor

I have done an extensive ressearch on the paints. Basically the epoxy is the best bond to the concret however it doesn't resist to oil. So what most company do is to apply one or two layer of Polyurethane paint over the epoxy. Polyurethane resists much better to oil than epoxy. However it will...

Need advise for heavy duty garage floor

I am having a new house built with a larger garage. I love to work in my garage. I do all maintenance myself on my Viper including transmission change and welding. I also like my garage to look super clean after the "surgery" is performed on my Viper. Some jobs are really dirty, but after a...

    Recommended aftermarket alarm?

Alarme are useless. Even insurance wont give you a real rebate. They go on so many times that no one pays attention. Best is to see with your insurance what protection they recommande for your area. Usually Viper are not high risk vehicules (even though they are easy to steal) The most...

New GM Union deal => Ready for another wild ride for the next 10 years.

In Canada GM and the Unions have just concluded an agreement. The agreement is very simple they reduced the marginal benefits of the workers by 15% and freeze wages until 2012. And that's it ... Basically the purpose of the agreement was to show the government that they all agree on something...

Chrysler In Talks To Sell Viper

This line stuck my attention : "Separately, Chrysler said it has seen a 30% decline in the warranty claims rate on its vehicles." For sure Viper is one of the best quality car ever built by Chrysler. It is certainly not perfect but it is a very good car. However the other cars are not as good...

Any late breaking news on factory, future?

Lets talks about cars ... Volkswagen will be on the market in 2015 no matter what. It seems that Volkswagen is the only car manufacturer making money. Honda and Toyota are in very deep trouble. As much as GM. They all lost 50% in sales. Chrysler become the number one seller in Canada since...
