Viperphiles -- I expect to be away "on business" for the next couple months and will have to suspend the free T-shirt offer for Final Edition Viper submissions until I return.
If you are collecting information, please act now and I'll send a T-shirt before I depart. Thanks.
monnieh -- We're further north at Fort Hood and not aware of any active VCA members in Round Rock. I'd take you up on the dinner, but we're working long hours right now and expect to be away for awhile. Perhaps someone else will chime in. Good luck.
Re: My Viper\'s Born On Date
Runnr and Sun Ra Kat -- Not sure if you are interested, but the Prowler owners explained that MDH is the hour the chassis and tub are mated. Since they were also built at CAAP, it is probably the same for Vipers.
In the Final Edition Registry we have MDHs ranging...
Jeff -- I think Trumper makes a good point. You may not want to spend this much to learn the basics. Local club days provide a good starting point.
We have several economical alternatives in Central Texas. The Driver's Edge Program provides excellent instruction and economical track time...
Re: Look at what I found when I took the front facia off my \'96 GTS !!
Dan -- Do you know the MDH for your car? This is the MonthDayHour the car was built -- on the newer GTSs it is shown as a 6-digit number in the lower left corner of the barcode sticker on the driver's door. Not sure where...
Perhaps a bit off topic, but Cris mentions less dust with EBC pads. I "accidently" drove my car at the track with the EBC greens that were recommended when the car was new, twice.
Understood greens would reduce brake noise, but too soft for the track. I've seen lots of dust from the greens...
Warren -- I'm impressed. I can't believe you have a picture of the original and Mobil 1 filters -- from your picture, the filter has the same model number and looks like the Mobil 1 filter that I purchased/installed.
Cody -- it was Janni's earlier gasket post that caused me to inspect this...
Ron -- I thought the same and was really surprised to see it leak. I usually hand tighten, but added the 1 1/2 turns with the strap wrench because the factory filter was tight. This is the first time I've used a Mobil 1 filter -- since tightening, it does not leak and oil pressures are OK...
Don't try this at home. Routine oil change -- after finger tightening Mobil 1 filter, added about 1 1/2 turns with strap wrench before resistance increased. Oil didn't leak until I started the engine -- luckily I ran it for less than 30 seconds for a leak check -- still resulted in 6 quarts of...
Re: Anybody have experience with the new G-TECH \"Competion Pro\" computer?
I'll second the motion -- G-Tech Pro is very easy to use and accurate (within 3% of the slip for time and speed in 1/4 mile). Only complaint is that software to download data to PC has not been released (promised by...
Re: Skinniest Rear tires ever put on a Viper !! Check\'em out !!
Bummer -- rollin on four donuts. Where'd you get the wheels? How about a side shot so we can see the empty fender wells?
Jay -- Thanks for the reminder. I should have confired that VIN 102736 is FE #360. And as you note, there are cars with similar MDHs, but VINs that are 200 numbers apart. I wonder what MDH FE 360 shows? I'm guessing the MDH was assigned prior to drawing the random Final Edition number. Was...
Jody -- While I don't doubt your source, the last retail VIN does not appear to include all the Final Editions which range from 102580s to 102980s. We also have an ACR in the Final Edition Registry with a VIN in the 970s. Perhaps these numbers were based on sold vehicles instead of the entire...
Kurt 97 - Thanks for making us feel welcome at the N Texas Club meeting. I think Bob has me talked into the WOW show in February, so I may need detailing and show tips.
Kurt - I posted the info on FE 43 -- send your size and address for the T-shirt. We also added a picture of FE 26 -- pretty...
Help the Final Edition Viper Registry and get a Free T-Shirt
The Final Edition Viper Registry has information on over 130 of these unique cars, but there are still a lot of "lost" FEVipers. For a limited time, send information about a Final Edition GTS Viper and receive an exclusive Viper...
Walt -- I have the Snake Oyl tapestry mats .
They're oversize so they don't slide, graphics are placed so they don't suffer footwear and definitely look great. Also have the trunk mat for my GTS. High price (over $500+shipping).
Let me jump on the "I like new G-Tech Competition Pro" bandwagon. Also not affiliated with manufacturer or distributors -- I received mine in a group buy with the Prowler Owner's Association.
Not wanting to be too much of a geek, here's the comparison of timeslips and G-Tech for 3 runs last...
Except my Final Edition GTS says it was built for "MIKE KIMBALL." I've tried Yahoo white pages and sent a couple emails, but don't have any idea who he is and why he didn't want the car. Perhaps Mike is a pseudonym used by the dealer or DC for orphan cars that are looking for a good home?
I...
KFMSLM -- eBay (of course). Try this eBay Store for seller. He doesn't show another Viper clock right now, buy you can email. He might even be willing to make a custom clock (perhaps with a picture of your car or the new Viper logo for SRT-10 owners). Good luck.
