Craig, is the Viper clutch hydraulic like the Z06? The 2002 I drove had a very stiff clutch. I also didn't like it not having a dead pedal. I always rest my left foot on the dead pedal when cruisin...

My '01 clutch is much smoother in feel and takes much less force to actuate than my '96. So, there are differences even among the...
Re: Lotsa newbie Viper Q\'s
Interesting thing about the red/yellow combination. When I first got mine, about 80% of the people "got it"; 20% didn't. (Not a commissioned survey; just a guesstimate.)
Six years later, about 20% got it and 80% didn't. But the 20% who like it REALLY like it.
I...
In my '96 I always had a problem and just lived with the constant adjusting of the mat.
In the '01, the rear hatch release bracket is in the way of the mats, so I unscrewed it, put the mat underneath and re-screwed it down. The mat ain't goin' nowhere.
Anyone else done this? I can't see how...

Be careful. When the gauge pointer on my '96 was on the empty marker, it was truly empty. (Had to push it into a gas station - once. Not TOO embarrassing.)
I have not tempted the '01 yet.
When asked what kind of gas mileage I get, I answer, "I can usually get double digits".

Right time, right place. Dan had to move some year-end inventory.
I did not have the high-flow cats installed - only the 3" Corsa cat-back. It took Dan Cragin less than an hour. No welds. Got the system, including installation, for $1395.

Exactly my thought. I suppose under SOME circumstance, it is possible to collect that much damage from 70 down...
I was in the lobby, at work, walking back to my office. I heard a sound that caught my attention. V8? No. What then? I hear the engine start to wind up, so I looked out the windows. I saw nothing but the engine sounds incredible. (I'm starting to think, "Sounds like a Viper" - but doubting...
I agree with all the comments posted so far, but...
I had the SnakeOyl (muffler delete) on my '96. I liked it much better than stock, but it was pretty raspy, especially when the engine was cold. The backfire when letting off the throttle was very sharp and loud.
The Corsa 3" on my '01 is...
Could be the engine's computer adjusting to an intake manifold gasket leak. If so, it will get worse and hang at the higher rpm longer. Do a search on "idle" or suchlike.
The '99 sales brochure has a black GTS with the camera pointed (almost) perpendicular to the ground. I saw the picture posted here on the forum once, so someone has it in e-form.

I guess that answers my question.
Thanks for the input everyone.
If you are not cooking components under the hood, would it not be better to radiate the heat than to trap it under the shields?
What do the aftermarket header guys do?
Is there any large disadvantage to taking off the "tin foil" heat shields that cover the stock headers. I think the engine would look better with visible headers. I have seen several bare aftermarket header set-ups and they seem to be OK. How about bare stock headers?
Anyone already done this?

I did.
(Still not much of an SRT fan, but it may be growing on me.)
Mark O,
I have not posted anything on like threads because styling is so subjective. I also have been as ambivalent about the SRT design as I can remember being about any other design.
That said, after reading your post, I think you hit the nail on the head. I feel clearer on what has been...
after the HB Police officer who was in front of me turned into the left turn lane (city street) then came in behind me and lit up.
He just wanted to inform me that my fog lights were adjusted too high.
Thanks to this forum, I searched on how to make the adjustment and will do so this evening...
