I think that's pretty universal Birvini. There are a few companies that offer special race-only insurance though. --Rob

    Odd Exhaust Manifold Gaskets

I ordered a set of exhaust manifold gaskets from JonB for my early '94. I removed the manifold over the weekend and it appears that the gasket is the wrong one. Jon seems a little stumped at this point so I thought I'd see what the board thinks. The gasket I removed from the car has round...

    SAVE HOOSIER TIRES! **** government!

Just for the record, Kelsey Grammer was drunk when he wrecked the Viper. His friends and family convinced him to check into the Betty Ford clinic a couple days later. --Rob

    warms up-stalls out

Ok, I think I figured this one out, at least for my car. Turns out the connection on the MAP sensor was loose. The computer has a code for getting NO signal from the map sensor but it wasn't enough to trip the code. I'd had a similar problem about 6 months ago and found that one of the...

    warms up-stalls out

I know this is an old thread but did you ever figure this one out Dan? My '94 just started doing the same thing. I've retorqued the intake manifold and replaced the battery but that hasn't helped. What did you find out with yours? --Rob

    Viper kit car, Yuck!

Honestly, I think that's the closest replica I've ever seen. The only thing I see wrong with it is the rear sail panels (or whatever we call them) are a little bigger than they should be. Other than that, it's dead-on. But here's the thing...why would you buy that when you can get a real...

need help for my '94 Viper.

Re: need help for my \'94 Viper. What a mess! After writing that e-mail I later found that the easiest way to figure out the firing order is to just remove the cowl cover and look at the coil packs with a mirror to see what number is stamped next to each plug. Anyway, I definitely recommend...

Multitasking: Changed my plugs and became "one" with my GTS!

Re: Multitasking: Changed my plugs and became \"one\" with my GTS! Joe, The wires on Vipers actually do go bad regularly. As an example, I called JonB to order something a couple months ago. He asked me what year car I had and how many miles are on it. I told him and he said "Ok...you're...

    Re-torquing heads...Do I need exhaust manifold gaskets?

There are probably 10 posts on here saying that re-torquing is necesarry and will often solve the problem....at least for a while. JonB recommends it regularly. It's a moot point now. The exhaust gaskets are aluminum which means they need replacing if they're removed. I just bolted it back...

    Plugs and Plug Wires

This has been posted a million times but here it is again.... The general consensus is that you do NOT need fancy plugs in a Viper. You're better off with plain old Champions. Fancy plugs make no difference in performance and usually cause problems. Mercedes even warned their dealers to...

Multitasking: Changed my plugs and became "one" with my GTS!

Re: Multitasking: Changed my plugs and became \"one\" with my GTS! I'm not sure if the GenIIs are any better but when I put the wires on my '94 it was a real pain. Putting them on wasn't that hard but the way the manual is illustrated, you can't tell where they're really suppose to go on the...

Re: Multitasking: Changed my plugs and became \"one\" with my GTS! Oh good lord Ron! Don't tell him to replace the wires. He may accidently hang himself with 'em. Ok..Time to stop...I'm being mean.

    Re-torquing heads...Do I need exhaust manifold gaskets?

I just started working on re-torquing the heads on my '94. I've got a slight coolant leak; it's not enough to make a puddle but I do have some coolant trails on the bottom of the block and the aroma gets sickening sometimes. I notice that the lower head bolts are almost impossible to get to...

    HEAD GASKET ADVISE NEEDED

Paul, I haven't done any machine work for quite a few years but .0003 (three ten-thousandths of an inch) tolerences seem awfully small, especially for the mains. Did you retype this at some point and maybe put an extra zero in? I've talked to a few machinists and mechanics (including those...

71? Do I hear a 71? Does anyone know what fault code 71 is?

Sean, I don't know if you've fixed this problem already but I just got the exact same error codes on my '94 RT/10. I may have interpreted the 71 as a 17 though. 17 is "engine cold too long" which is the computer trying to warn you of a stuck-open thermostat. 14 is, of course, a problem with...

Plug wire order foul up-Please help

Makara, I just did this yesterday on a '94 so I still have my notes handy. I noted where each wire went BEFORE removing them as I havn't purchased a shop manual yet either. Anyway, I'm going to try to describe it as best I can...There are two coil packs, one on the driver's side and one on...

    Emblems

Ok...I posted this sometime last week (I thought) but the thread seems to have disappeared... I've started a company which sells advertising space on the outside of Vipers and other exotic cars. I'm using my '94 RT/10 as the initial test vehicle and would really like some good (tested) advice...

Want a Viper virtually free? Want ME to make your payments for you?

I know you were looking for some kind of get-rich quick scheme in this message but that's not what this is. I've been a Viper owner for about a year now and an enthusiast for probably 2 or 3 years. I've just started a company who's primary purpose allows it to pay the car payments for Viper...

    Stock spark plugs...

It's true and has been for many years. I did hear of a few manufacturers refusing do to this any more a few years ago but I don't know if that actually happened or not. I found it hard to believe at first too but I've talked to a jobber shop owner and a manager at one of the chains (won't...

    Stock spark plugs...

One thing about Pep Boys, Super Trak and Hi-Gear...don't buy sparkplugs there. The plug manufacturers test and rate the sparkplugs before they are sold. Pep Boys Super Trak and Hi-Gear basically ask for the cheapest plugs available. Get things like sparkplugs from a jobber shop such as Car...

Actually, I've found that the long-term effects of nitrous use are: light-headedness, wheezing, coughing, short-term memory loss and..umm...oh...wait...you're talking about in a car! Nevermind. --Rob ;)

Anyone Have Viper as ONLY Car?

I've had my Viper for about 6 months now (whoa...has it been that long already?!?!?) and I've put a little under 11,000 miles on it. It's a '94 RT/10 and yes, it's really my only car right now. A lot of the concerns brought up so far are valid but, if you care enough to drive the car, you...
