GA VCA Autocross This Sunday 4-27-03

Paul is the one who introduced me to autocrossing and taught me when I was first starting. He is an excellent driver and has his car completely prepped for autocrossing (slicks, lowered, alignment).

I am ready to bring it to the track May 11 at Little Talladega. We'll see what happens there. But the Atlanta SCCA talent will be there too, which is very formidable.

    Driving a GTS 1000 miles non-stop

I drove mine 850 miles from New Jersey to Atlanta. One the good side, it gave me a chance to get acquanited with the car and experience the celebrity that driving a Viper gives you. On the bad side, I do not like the car for long trips, mainly because there's no cruise control. Having to hold...

    Barber Motorsports Track: Review

That's exactly the problem. On most of the "straights" at Barber, both cars need to move from one side to the other to get to the turn-in point for the next corner. So the overtaken car might choose to stay wide, let the other car through on the correct line OR the overtaken car may stay...

    Barber Motorsports Track: Review

I went to a Porsche Club Drivers' Education event at the new Barber track in Alabama this past weekend. It was a 2-day event with six 30-minute sessions for everyone. I had a great time and wanted to post my impressions about the track: (1) The facility is beautiful and well-thought-out. The...

GA VCA Autocross This Sunday 4-27-03

Pete -- I had a great time. When I get a chance I will write a long review in a separate thread. One thing is for sure, that is much more of a handling track than a horsepower track ...

    Review: Motive Brake Bleeder

Today, Achilles99 and I bled the brakes on my 2002 GTS in preparation for an upcoming track event. I received my Motive Products Power Bleeder (www.motiveproducts.com), and we used it for the first time today. I thought I would post my impressions. First off, it is extremely easy to use. We...

    Attn: North Georgia Recreational Drivers

I took the GTS up through the mountains of North Georgia today, to Helen, up to Blairsville, then Dahlonega and Amicalola. It was a beautiful day and the sport bikes and Harleys were out in force. What surprised me was the police presence on US 19/129 going south from Blairsville . I have...

Where do I get brake deflectors?

I have tracked before in my (former) Z06 Corvette, but this will be the first time out in the Viper. I do not anticipate going super-fast; this is a Porsche Club Driver's Education event on the new Barber Track in Alabama, so I think most people will be taking it easy on an unfamiliar track...

Where do I get brake deflectors?

OK, I have written Sean, but Chuck, can you be more specific about what you're talking about? Like what the parts are, where you would attach them, etc.? Whatever I put on there will have to be removable for street use, since my understanding is that these things have lower ground clearance...

Where do I get brake deflectors?

In preparation for my first track event, I want to pick up some brake air deflectors. I have seen people post here that they paid very low (and very high) amounts for these things. Can anyone recommend where to get them inexpensively? Also, I'll need some advice about installing them. Cable...

Anybody who's coming should pre-register on the alscca.org web site -- that helps the registration process go faster.

    Autocross: Birmingham 4/6/03

OK, I went over to Corvette Forum and laid down the gauntlet for our Z06-driving brethren to come to Birmingham for another autocross on April 6, 2003. Any of you guys up for it? (www.alscca.org)

Results of Viper vs. Vette autocross!

The Civic CAN be a better car if the owner goes on a bodywork and sticker shopping-spree! Just get that thing all gussied up and put in "Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit and you will be an instant movie star! I am looking forward to the rematch too. I don't know if anyone would consider this, but I...

Drove New Barber track in AL. last Sat.

I am in Group 2, so that will help. The event has 178 people signed up, 5 run groups. Do you have an idea of what amount of track time we will get each day? I have never been to a PCA event.

Results of Viper vs. Vette autocross!

Hey Teddy! It was great meeting you. If you've got some more pics, please post them. I had fun at this event, but I am TOTALLY finished debating the relative merits of Corvettes and Vipers. I hope that more Viper owners will autocross their cars and I do want to make the point that the Viper...

Results of Viper vs. Vette autocross!

I didn't. My Viper is exactly as I drove it off the showroom floor except I changed the wheel lugs out and put locks on the wheels. I don't think that increases autocross performance ...

Drove New Barber track in AL. last Sat.

Hearing that, Pete, I am going to drive really slow when I go there for the PCA event in April! The Viper doesn't have sheet metal but I'll bet the body panels don't do well against walls ...
