+1 for JonB. I just picked up a set of the 6 spokes wrapped in Hoosier A6s. In my opinion they look sweet and were certainly lighter then the stock 5 spokes that came with the car (06 Coupe FE).
Just my $0.02 - I live in Cali and bought an '06 earlier this year from an out of state dealer and had it shipped cross country. When I went to the DMV to register it I was hit with CA sales tax on the full purchase amount. I expected this, but cutting the check still hurt. At least I drove out...
I recently purchased a '06 coupe (First Edition) with 16k miles primarily for autocross and track day events. Given the cost savings, I am extremely happy. Some things I have learned and you might want to consider (aside from the obvious stuff) - the 06 has a hydraloc differential versus the...
Please contact me if you are looking to sell you factory (stock) LSD or shocks. I need them to be stock to stay legal in SS (autocross) but need them to be in excellent condition. These are for an '06 coupe.
Just my $0.02 - Most of the crashed vipers we hear about are due to drivers with little or no high-horsepower RWD experience, whom are accustomed to traction control and other driver aids, underestimating the power and torque. (These are increasing as the price of used vipers comes down.)...
Awesome - problem soloved! I did do a quick search for "loose clutch pedal" but didnt come up with anything. Guess I need to work on my search technique! Thanks again.
The clutch pedal in my 06 Coupe is, well for lack of a better word, sloppy. It has about 1/2 to 1 inch of play in all directions. The gas and brake pedals are very tight with no slop at all. I wedged myself into the footwell and looked at the linkage, but dont see anything that can be...
Powerful thread. Lots of solid points. Disclaimer - I happen to be part of the track day, driving school, autocross, etc camp and likely I am biased because of it.
I've driven high horsepower rear wheel drive cars most of my life but just recently stepped up to an '06 SRT-10 Coupe. I must...
Anyone have a suggestion for reusable vinyl track numbers and bulk material for getting sponsor stickers on the car for track events and off for street driving? It seems like the stuff from soloperformance.com seems like the best option.
Achilles - unfortunately I don't have regular access to a lift, I'd have to use my buddies at his garage and its not always available. I was thinking of finding some other guys that are interested in chipping in on a set of the smart strings and splitting the cost.
UPDATE - I had the car...
Dan (Viper X),
Thanks for taking a look at my specs - I'm heading back to the alignment shop tomorrow to get them to adjust the rear toe - to make it toe in a bit. I will also get those strings ASAP. Very much appreciated!!
Dan (Escapedan)
Thanks everybody for the replies and advice - I definitely want to get this right before hitting the track. I agree, 1mm seems like too small a measurement to make any difference at all.
I attached the alignment sheet - maybe I'm reading it wrong?? The "before" measurements, naturally...
Gotcha - I had a feeling they might not fit and I'd hate to spend the money only to find out I have a set of tires I cant use. I also found out that in order to run SS class in autocross I have to retain the stock size wheels. I guess I'll be looking for autocross rubber for the stock 18s/19s.
The title says it all. I have come across some 18" Forgeline Competition RS wheels that were intended for a 2001 Viper. Does anyone know if I can fit these on my 2006 coupe? I think i might have to move the emergency brake cable, but otherwise, do they sound ok? Tires are 275/35/18 up front...
Oh boy, I think I messed up...I am new to Vipers and just learning about alignment settings, so I'm going to chock this up to rookie mistake or shop mistake. Here's what happened:
I took the below specs from "Viper X" to the alignment shop:
Front camber, -1.5 to - 2.0
Front toe out, - 1...
