    cat "test pipe"

Re: Just before Sebring last week I cut off my cats, partly for the sound and power, but also to reduce heat on-track. I had already cut off my mufflers. I have what's left of the stock exhaust system including the resonators, with Roe's cat sims. I've had no codes, the increase in power was...

    Rims and tires

That was a concern of mine, too. I think I should probably upgrade the stock rear brakes before I start adding any grip to the front-end. Thanks Ron. (Hey, you never sent me a full-size of that chick doing a hand-stand in front of the blue GTS... :D )

Wow! First look at SRT in person

I disavow any knowledge of their current whereabouts or status. Yeah, it's me, NotJim. I figured now that I'm beating up my car on the track, I should probably start hanging around here again. The one point I've never contended is that this is the best place for accurate technical information...

    Rims and tires

Yeah, since I posted this I received a lot of e-mails saying "stick with the 18's". I suppose the question now is width. I talked to John in e-mail and he's recommending a slightly wider-than-stock in front. Thanks for the reply.

My SRT-10 rox! Nuh-uh, yer SRT-10 sux! Well, it's good to know I didn't miss anything these past six or eight months.

    Front calipers on the back?

Coincidentally I talked to a guy who wanted to do this only about two weeks ago. After investigating it rather thoroughly, his conclusion was that fabricating all of the brackets and so on would have been just as expensive as simply buying new rears outright.

Viper Days, Roe Supercharger, & Rollbar

Actually Vipermad threw that avatar out there (thank you TR) when I whined about being labeled "Enthusiast", although I did do the turn 13 one on the NFV site. In June I'll be in Kentucky for the NHRA Historic Hot Rod reunion (my friend is driving a 7-second rail powered by a 1949 flathead, and...

Selection of insurance - Geico versus State Farm

Hi Hans, hope you enjoy the Viper. One of these days we'll get down to Miami. I had GEICO for a long time. My problem with them was that they really haggled over any claims you'd file. You could get the money out of them, but it was a lot of work. I have some experience with State Farm...

Viper Days, Roe Supercharger, & Rollbar

I have yellow 6-point TeamTech belts in my car which pretty closely match the car's yellow. You can get them from JonB, but you can find them a bit cheaper elsewhere.

    value of 01 gts brakes

I put my stock brakes up for sale quite awhile back and didn't get any bites except from people who only offered ridiculously low numbers (like fifty bucks for the rotors). I was told front rotors + calipers were worth anywhere from $500 to $700. Apparently not. Maybe I'll make them into clocks.

    Rims and tires

I've noted a wide variation between rim diameters and widths for people road racing Vipers. Some guys have 18" fronts and 17" rears with taller rears to make up the diameter difference. Some use fronts as wide as the rears, and others go skinny all the way 'round. Can somebody pick apart these...

    Yellow Vipers are faster

Dropping by to say hi, and to make sure everybody remembers the all-important mantra, Yellow Vipers Are Faster. I recently dynoed the creampuff and after getting the VEC1 right, it made 422 RWHP and and 456 RWTQ. I always thought everybody used a flywheel-to-RWHP fudge factor of about 12% for...
