Bump -
If this was about blowers or Zaino there would be 50 responses by now. Does anyone still race (not that straight stuff :D ) their Viper anymore?
How did those guys do back east - anyone?
Thanks!
Teamtech makes a nice one with an additional strap across the chest that keeps the shoulder straps from separating.
If you plan on doing any road racing/track events, you should consider going to a 6-point harness as most sanctioning bodies are moving in that direction.

Frank,
In my opinion, it is all about intended purpose. Bench racing or drag racing = blower. Road racing = naturally aspirated.
A good set of heads will work on both. Cams are application specific though.
Regards,
It is funny how people use drag race times to compare a cars peformance when one (Viper) is purely designed for road racing and the others are built mainly for drag racing (except the Vette and 427 Cobra).
The Viper purely runs fast 1/4 mile times because of its HP/Weight ratio. Its entire...
Ryan,
I have BPE heads and they are great. I tried to send you an email but the address in your profile bounces back.
Send me an email or PM and I'll shoot you a dyno sheet (not sure how to post one here).
Best regards,
Mike

Vin,
Yes, that set up has some drone. I would suggest going to a Viper event and getting some rides in different cars with different systems. I am sure people would be happy to take you for a ride.
VOI 8 is coming up in september followed by Viper Days both at/around Texas Motor Speedway...
Vin,
Congrats on the baby. Obviously I like the '96/'97 Blue GTS's. Headers and a Borla cat back exhaust will readily do the car alarm thing (that is what I have and it happens a lot).
Welcome to the Viper world!

Sonny said it all. Absolutely, closed face.
This is crazy. Are you going to listen to the guys that actually race or the ones that sit here on the boards and say things ridiculous things like "I really think autocross is tame enough to need no helmet at all" or "For autocross you will want to...
Lou,
Call Bobby Archer Motorsports, I know Bobby is working on some new links and a steering rack mount that allow bump steer to be easily adjusted. I think they are just finishing it up and it hasn't been released yet, so let him know I sent you his way.

JE's and Diamonds are $1,000 for a set of 10 in an "anything you want" configuration.
Just my advice, do rods at the same time and do not stroke the motor.

ab,
I have a fluidyne "stacker" system that fits in the stock opening. It is similar to that seen on this page:
http://www.fluidyne.com/pl_radiators.html
called the Double 38mm with stack EOC.
What I did is sent them the dimensions of the radiator opening and size and location of the...
Thanks Frank,
I thought I remember the CC's being quieter than that. Too bad the all the rich folk that moved in right next ot a race track whinned about the noise and ruined a great thing for the rest of us.

Hi all,
I have a highly modified GTS and am trying to make it sound legal for Laguna Seca - 92db max. With Borla's and no cats I touched 101 db full throttle (with reslutant black flag and verbal spanking). Even 6th gear and partial throttle just to get up the hill from 5 to 6 (where the sound...
Jon,
I have a '96 GTS and the stock pistons are definately flat tops with no valve reliefs.
You should have fun, I hear Jeff does a great job on heads.
I checked a bit and I was told 80cc is just about the max you can open up a Gen II combustion chamber to (maybe another cc or two). I guess...
Me again, I just looked at the calculator linked above, here is what you are missing:
Deck = -0.035"
Head gasket thickness = 0.054"
Piston net volume = 0
The pistons are flat tops
Gives you 9.13:1 with their calculator.
I guess that would have been easier :o
Regards,
Here you go:
Static compression ratio equals
[Chamber Volume(CV) + Gasket Volume(GV) + Deck height Volume(DV) + Piston Displacement Volume(PDV)] / [Chamber Volume(CV) + Gasket Volume(GV) + Deck height Volume(DV)]
With your variables and substituting in stock values for what you don't know...
I grew up without much money and was once one of those kids asking to sit in every cool car I saw. No one ever really obliged and most just said "go away kid". To this day I think they were all jerks. I always let people look at the car, sit in it to take pictures, answer their questions, etc...
FE 065,
At least on a '96 GTS, the intake ports are larger than the head ports at the interface. Some quick work with a carbide bit........ :D
