A short throw shortens the ratio so there is less distance to move it back and forth. It also upgrades the springs so it feels tighter.
Shortening the shifter kind of shortens the throw but it does not really improve the feel.
Re: Anyone use Rich\'s shifter rod
I had Rich Detert's short shaft, took it out and installed the B&M. Great improvement.

Thanks Neil, the transmission rebuilt kit seems pretty cheap.
The problem is I don't know what's wrong with it so I need to take it apart first and take a look.
I usually just go to track days. Was at Moroso last weekend with the Porsche club. No one passed me in the intermediate group.
PS: Are all South Florida Vipers used as Grocery geters, because I certainly don't see any at the track (speaking of the Moroso and Homestead tracks).
Performance Friction 01's I think are the best. I use them in the front and the Brakeman 3's in the back.
I have been to 4 track days with this combo, and I think the pads have another 10 full track days before they wear out.
PS: I think you guys brake too much to wear out pads in one day.
The Brakeman 3's on the street will squeal you to death. I use them for the track but I replace the with the stock ones when I get home.
Otherwise my car sounds like a locomotive coming to a stop. Real long squeal.
No, you do not need to drill the tunnel. You can use a regular wrench to get in there. But it is 10 times harder. I did it a couple of weeks ago and it took a couple of hours just to get the back bolts loosened and tightened back again.
But no holes.
I've installed the B&M a couple of weeks ago. Great stuff, I should have installed it earlier.
As far as breaking it, it looks pretty solid so I am guessing the were slamming it quite hard to do it.
Shifting into reverse does get a lot easier after the car is warmed up.
Just installed the same shifter two weeks ago. I cut the pastic boot and the glued it back together with rubber glue so I would not have to fool with those bolts.
Shifting into reverse is not bad on mine.
I uses Brakeman 3's for the track and I tried leaving them on but I could not take it. The car sounds like a locomotive stopping. The squeak is so bad I don't think it's usable on the street. The stock pads by comparision are real quiet.
I am thinking of trying the greens myself just to cut...
Team Techs Padded about $350 from JonB at PartsRack. You just need to get the eyebolts, real easy install.
But cutting the holes in the back pannels and getting them to line up is the real fiasco.
Re: Video link
Insurance should cover this stuff. If it's a school it should be covered by your liability insurance. They tell you so in the handouts from the schools.
I was trying to get rid of the original amplifier also. And you are right WMA is awesome, the Alpine head units also have that.
And after installing all that I realized that I would rather listen to the engine and only use my radio as a clock.
So how are those Brakeman 3's? I have them in the back and the car started squeking like a locomotive.
In the front I use PFC 01's and they are great except they dust like crazy. Last time at the track the dust attached itself to the chrome on the wheel, it took weeks to get it off.
