I purchased BM3's based on Jon's recommendation. After a few track days, including one where I lost ABS due to a sensor failure I changes to BM3's up front and stock in the back. Overall feel and reduced squirreliness under heavy braking, and a degree more resistance to early rear lock-up in...
When I did it I broke several bits as well. i used very good tungsten carbide drills. Not sure what type of drill bits you are using but the crankshaft is hard stuff.
The basic problem with spiral wound absorbent glass mat lead acid batteries (read Optima) is their sensitivy to excess rate of charge. Very dependent on temperature and charging system settings. Vehicles designed for Optima use provide a somewhat different charging strategy to avoid this issue...
Agree with above comments, especially the Dean Word respect. Steve also.
You can quickly check the mounts by observing if excessive shifter movement occurs when adding throttle in a higher gear. If there is more than slightly more than a half inch then mounts may indeed be bad.
Far more...
Higher octane is only important if you think it could get into detonation. A stock engine with a stock tune should be safe.
If buying it would be prudent to remove a few spark plugs checking their condition. A leak down and compression test may also be good. If available a borescope check of...
Dave is your O2 sensor pointing slightly downward? If so that is not good. A downward placement allows and moisture accumulation in the sensor body. I believe it is recommended to be at least 10 degree upward.
Get a helmet, mount 6 point belts (if not for the safety then for the torso stability while on the track), get driving shoes (wrong pedal can be really bad on thetrack) and most of all listen and learn from your instructor.
Car improvements can be made over time. Doubtful that a first time...
Ah Keith was the warm hug and kisses for my somewhat conservative political views???
Sorry about the diversion. Weight. The added weight is in the right front, forward of the front wheel centerline. No question that added weight reduces handling, especially transitional. I do not have any...
Hopefully I did not make this over technical. That is a personal fault of mine. At least I did not get into dendrite formation and how that impacts the elongation and stress capacity. :)
Too bad, but somewhat expected based on your descriptions. Get ready for somewhat worse shift quality from the Tremec mexican version of the transmission. The earlier BW were more "snickety."
I should add that I also use a colder plug (Champion 10 instead of the stock 12), and a separator in the crankcase ventilation line. Both intended to reduce detonation sensitivity. I also increase the octane through additives for track use as I do not have ready access to higher octane gas...
Just noticed that as I typed this out on the 'ole blackberry I made some important typos. it should have read:
Obama is now politicing against the only measure in the bill to help protect US based businesses. that is the ability to employ import duties on nations that do not achieve similar...
Obama is not politicing against the only measure in the bill to help protect US based businesses. that is the abaility to employ import duties on nations that do not achieve similar levels of carbon levels. The intended date for the duties is no earlier than 2020. Given the lateness and Obama's...
I would take it to a place that has experience with the BW T56 (Viper, Corvette, Camaro, Mustang, etc). Pulling the trans is not too bad if you have a lift and are mechanically capable and do not mind losing a bit of skin here and there. Otherwise the T56 is a pretty well know transmission and...
That is starting to sound more like the fork, fork pads or something in the internal shift mechanism. I do not know the T56 very well so not sure what all it may have. But anything that causes a loss of motion could cause this (like bent fork, worn fork or fork pads, etc).
Another thing that can affect reverse alone is a bent shift fork. When shifting into reverse does it seem like it catches just at the end of shifter travel? Unfortunately bent shift forks were common on Gen I with cast iron forks (went to steel for Gen II). Never heard of a reverse one as most...
Doubtful the noise you are hearing is the flywheel. It makes the main bearing noise when you are not pressing on the clutch and stops/decreases when you press on the clutch. Only the sound is similar. The clunk you are hearing is probably driveline clunk, which for Gen I was normally the rear...
Grinding indicates the transmission input is spinning at the time of reverse engagement and the reverse synchronizer is not doing its job. Now a reverse synchronizer is not a requirement as most manual cars do not have one, so if it has gone bad it may not be an issue. The problem though is that...
Is that the same car you purchased earlier this year?
If so I wonder if that is a sign of something happening before you got it or possibly while in transit (thinking that if someone tied it down using the frame really hard it could have overloaded it). Just some thoughts.
