VSP will surely expect your car to blow up very soon because you didn't take his idiotic advice.
If you can take pictures and post them up, it will help other Gen 3 guys fix a known issue without having VSP steer them to spending a buttload of money with his great advice.
So the key here is the 96/97 is a very limited number(Smooth, no texture). Even worse if you had a 1997 RT, one year only(No rear window defroster, smooth). The 1998-2002 GTS bezels are textured and different switches. They can be adapted and I sell NEW radio bezels for $300. You can use it, but...
Fast Dan is correct, If the battery is low, it can cause issues. Put it on a charger and get it back to 100%. At the same time, reset the PCM to clear any issues. If you do need a new IAC, I have a few for sale.
I hope you get all you can, but aren't you the one wanting to buy an RV to replace the Viper? Just say no:

Oh, and...
Dude, it's a Gen 1. Don't drive it in the rain. Even my 1996 RT, if I hit rain, it leaked. I always carried a towel or two on every drive. I can bring the windows with me on my next drive down to test fit
I have a custom set of side pipes, but you don't want stock. They sound worse than a UPS truck. As for the top, I have a green hard top off a 1995. I also have a set of hard 1996 slider windows.
Drive by, stop in, ask. If not, take your car to Havik Performance, Bath PA 18014. I drag all my cars up there from South Alabama. Why?! Because most other shops are incompetent or fvcking crooks. Ask me how I know..................
Just be selective on who works on your car. ARD was in ATL, and was/were a bunch of crooks. If you want the best independent shop. Vengeance Racing is where you want to go
I have one(green) for sale. $2900. Shipping ***** though and the 94 is a weird year. The front latches are different depending on build date. 95s-2002 front latches are all the same length
^^^THIS^^^
But also, reseting the PCM might also be another option(simply disconnect the battery for 60 min).
If you want, I can send a Dealership manual for you to use and if you like to keep it, I will sell it. But I will send it to you tomorrow if you want. Message me your address
Mike
Any good OEM equivalent wire will be fine. Most wires are never replaced which is a shame with all the heat cycles, they do breakdown. The should be replaced based on age alone every 4-5 years.
I sell a few different sets, but for $100 plus shipping, cheap insurance.
Do you have a Service manual for the car? If not, I sell them. It is a MUST!!!!!!
It sounds like a fuze, but if it is good, look to the ignition switch. I have had several fail and certain things weirdly would fail with it
