1997 GTS was running then stopped. Something electrical.

Anything is possible...but, a battery jump box is generally much less likely to harm the PCM than the real Gen II PCM killer which a battery charger plugged into an A /C power outlet that has a "boost to start" button. Has this car been in storage ? When it was running, how long was it at a...

    Mystery misfire

I recall tracing a misfire of one plug on our 99 only to find that the one OEM plug wire's resistance was WAY high. Changed wires, problem solved.

Buying Gen 3 with 8 prior owners?

And 04's have the infamous downsized harmonic damper bolt (along with possibly a few early 05's) that was prone to backing out !!

Buying Gen 3 with 8 prior owners?

Now, that said...if a person such as Dan Cragin were to do the PPI on that Viper and subsequently told me that it was a solid car, I would buy it sight unseen. I say that because I really mean it. That is the value of a Tech with a wealth or Viper experience who is well respected...as he was...

Buying Gen 3 with 8 prior owners?

I would be concerned about this situation. While I have not researched this particular market of late, there are bound to be a number of 2003's out there with fewer owners...thereby reducing the overall risk of surprises. The price also seems high to me. Keep in mind that you need to have an...

New to me gen 2 RT/10 missing air bag fuses.

Several years ago, a solid guy with many Vipers, Prowlers, etc. stated the through his long multi-vehicle collecting history he did indeed have a few mishaps...all of which were repaired via insurance. However, he noted that 30% did not show up on Carfax. In my own experience, two different...

New to me gen 2 RT/10 missing air bag fuses.

I have heard of people pulling the fuses because they feel that the air bags are a threat...particularly with the potential issue with Takata equipment. I do not agree with that philosophy. Another possibility might be that there was a problem somewhere in the Occupant Restraint System that...

1996 Rt/10 Missing coolant tank help

Good writeup. Sir. I have run across a 95 that was driven without issues for about 8 years without changing the coolant AND without the owner realizing the overflow/ recovery bottle in the front fascia was missing. Its absence was only noted when he called me for help one day due to a green...

I thought Roanoke in Roanoke, Illinois was the best but…

Hello, Ivory...it has been a long time since we have spoken !! I totally agree with your summation of John Gastman's Roanoke Motors operation. They are first class in my book...noting that it "starts at the top". Through the years, they have sold, serviced, solved issues on many of my fellow...

    2013 vs 2017

While many enjoy typing long answers, I favor a verbal dialog. This is especially true when discussing the many recalls for the 2013's as well as understanding the system on the R28 and R 29 recalls. Call me if you like...or, if your budget permits and all other criteria are equal (preferably...

    Gen 2 ACR water pump?

Aside from a leaking hose or a hole in the radiator, there are two main reasons that fluid runs out from underneath the right front after a drive: First is that one just tapped a parking lot curb stone and drove a closeout panel bolt through the bottom corner of the bottle..which is unlikely as...

    Gen 2 ACR water pump?

Thanks, VOtterViper....and, YES I know both "Dan's". While it was known that 2001 Vipers frequently had early water pump failures...it should be noted that some 2000's suffered the same fate along with some 2002's. Your cooling system has 8 hoses and two separate "tanks". It is critical to...

    Gen 2 ACR water pump?

VOtterViper, sorry about your overheating troubles. While you may be totally correct with your diagnosis of a bad water pump, there are a couple of other things to consider. But before getting into that, I would like to know: Your definition of "already built" from as stated in a prior post...
