Here I am, did someone ring? Sorry, I haven't been on today, Shelby3, I was busy sloppin' the hogs, fixin' breakfast, huntin' for some wild varmits to kill and eat for supper, and takin' my weekly bath down in the creek. One of these days I'm going to get some indoor plumbing in my shanty...
red98, I don't think knock sensors would be much benefit for picking up the type of sound you are hearing. Knock sensors are used to pick up sounds of detonation in the engine under load that are inaudible to you from the driver's seat and then compensate with ignition and fuel changes...
red98rt10, the AEM is a stand alone engine management system. The VEC2 is a different, piggy back, engine controller. I don't think Justin normally tunes the VEC2.
Call Justin Nenni at Tuning Concepts (www.tuningconcepts.com). His tuning ability is amazing. My car drives better than it did stock and makes about twice the horsepower. He's a great guy to deal with as well.

The CAD software they have is pretty limited on the geometry of parts that can be made. However, it does allow you to import AutoCAD files into it, but I've done it before and it is not the easiest task. Importing it is one thing, making the ACAD file workable in emachineshop is a challenge.
Make sure you crank the same number of times for each cylinder. The VEC2 will compensate for altitude since it has its own MAP sensor. The VEC2 still uses the stock PCM for IAT readings and compensates for a rise in temperature based on the stock enrichment table. I'd go with the AEM for...
Leslie, I don't think it would be worth it for you. I'm not sure what modifications you have, but if you don't have some type of programmable engine management system there isn't much he can do. For the Viper you'd either have to have an AEM or Motec. You could get an AEM overnighted to you...
Venom, come on down man. The weather is looking fine up through Wednesday.
Snampro, I'm very close to Milton. Give me a shout next time you are in town.
Justin Nenni of Tuning Concepts in Austin, Texas is coming to Charleston, West Virginia next week to tune my car with the AEM EMS. As of now, I am the only car he is tuning. If anyone is interested in getting some great tuning, this is a good opportunity. He's got a great reputation for being...
No, I don't believe so; it is a pull type fan. If you mount one in front of the radiator you need a push type fan. I don't think pusher fans are quite as efficient as the pull fans of the same size. You can trim some of the shroud back on the '99 and up fans and gain an 1 1/2" of clearance...
Jim, if you must, the 708 cam will work fine with no other modifications. It's really not that much different than your stock cam. Just be careful when you put the cam sensor back into the timing cover. Make sure that you have proper clearance between the nose of the sensor and the high spot...
I didn't have to pass emissions in my state, so I can't say whether or not it will pass. I hate to tell you that it will pass and then you go to the trouble of installing it and failing. Is there not a way to get around those types of things in your area? Any buddies in the inspection...
Hey Jim, I think you should go with the Comp cam. I'm sure the 708 cam will work well, but while you are going to all this trouble and expense, you should try to get the most from your setup. Flashing the PCM will not do the same as an adjustable timing set. Changing PCM maps will only...
Kai, I wouldn't say your cam is too large. I wouldn't think you would lose that much low end because of that cam. I changed cams in my car and went with a much larger cam than that last summer. I was having a severe low end power loss. At first I thought maybe I went too big, but I took the...
Jay,
Check out part #8420K14. I know it's not exact in length, but it's similar and gives you an idea of what a part like that is worth. I know there are other things to consider like the specific length needed and threads, but $100 for a threaded rod is kinda high.
You don't want to pre-load the lifter anymore than absolutely necessary. If you put a bunch of pre-load in a hydraulic lifter it can pump up at high rpms and cause the valves to float. I think one turn on the Harlands equals about .050" which is more than enough pre-load. It sounds like you've...
Hey Mark, any idea on when they will be ready for purchase?
Ian, I almost had the car ready to go for tuning, but I read more of the AEM manual and learned that I had to send AEM my fuel injectors to complete a battery offset table for pulsewidth changes based on variances in voltage supplied...
Hey Ian, what's up buddy? Regarding the member on here, I've sent several emails with no response. I was told awhile back that they would be available the following week of my original email, but that didn't happen. I've got a boost gauge and a fuel pressure gauge duct taped to my dash at the...
