If you were Cerebus, what would you do with the Viper?

I read the details of the contract agreement and it appeared that Cerberus is closing the plant and Viper production at the end of this product cycle. They did not indicate the exact year, but my guess would be 3-4 years. Surprised nobody in the Viper community picked up on this earlier.

    Transmission Issues (Recommendations)

If you do one thing...get the MGW short throw lever and knob. It takes 5 minutes to install and makes a dramatic improvement in shift quality. Seriously. As for the skip shift eliminator, I do not understand why people complain as from Day One I never even knew my car had one. Sorry, but you...

    08 Rear Diff

I believe the rear axle is still the Dana 44 so the parts could very well interchange.

    What happend?

From a design perspective the transmission in the Viper is not designed to be powershifted. The synchros, blocker rings, etc, all rely on an extremely short interruption in power (clutch) to function properly. If you want to powershift reliably under high load you need to eliminate the synchro...

Need feed back on Race Deck Floor

For those of you considering painting your floor it is critical that you either shotblast or diamond grind the surface prior to painting. This will remove residual stresses, contaminents and prepare the floor for proper paint adhestion. Second, it is best to fill all cracks, etc. with a high...

    2008 Dodge Viper

Close, but not quite on the mark. Desmodromic valve trains use the cam to both open and close the valve as opposed to a more traditional layout where the cam opens the valve and the valve spring closes the valve. The desmodromic systems work great at high engine speeds where a spring is too slow...

    2008 Dodge Viper

Yes, it can easily be supercharged. Many factory supercharged vehicles feature variable cam timing, and aftermaket kits have also been developed.

    2008 Dodge Viper

It means variable valve timing. In other words, they can change the timing of the valves opening and closing relative to engine speed, load, etc. Normally, this is achieved using a hydraulic cam phasing unit powered by engine oil pressure with electronic control via a solenoid. My F150 utilizes...

Need help with a electric vacuum pump!!!!!!!

Viper D- The Ford Super Duty Diesel uses an electric vacuum pump for the automatic 4x4 hubs that is OE quality, designed to mount under the hood, looking very much like it came from the factory. The pump is manufactured by Hella for Ford. I am sure a Ford Dealer could track you one down...

    Most expensive SRT-10

Why would someone think this is good news? Dodge should pull out of Wisconsin in a similar fashion to the automakers challenging the lease law in NY. Didn't get much press, but the law is now changing to protect the manufacturer in NY. Too many lawyers in the US, too few people working for a living!

    Understanding differentials

FYI, the viper uses an expensive speed sensing limited slip differential in the rear axle referred to as a hydra-lok by DANA. The differential uses a small pump that is activated by a speed difference between the two rear tires (ie. one spinning). As the pump builds pressure from one tire...

Viper Tech taking car home, hopes to duplicate squeak

Let the Tech drive it home. The last thing he/she wants to do is damage your car on an overnight. If damaged, all parts and repair time will be at the tech's expense.

New '04 has loose crank bolt- tow or drive????

Re: New \'04 has loose crank bolt- tow or drive???? Mark - Just have it towed and have the dealer deal with it. If something goes wrong, or already has you might be blamed if you tighten it and drive it to the dealer. TG
