Failed State Inspection ... rear and front tie rods/ rack and pinion; cheapest parts?

Re: Failed State Inspection ... rear and front tie rods/ rack and pinion; cheapest pa There are shims where the steering rack attaches to the frame. It is very important that they should be replaced the same way when re-assembling. If they are missing there will be problems with bump steer...

    Camber adjustment bolts

Follow the instructions in the service manual. After loosening the cam nuts, the ears on the frame must be pried out before turning the cam bolt to make the adjustment. This is to disengage nibs on the face of the bushing. Otherwise the cams will break loose when the bolt is turned to make...

New power steering pump? Gen I

I bought some o rings of the proper material. I couldn't just buy one. If you send me your address, I will send you one. This is the o ring between the pump and the reservoir. It looks a little different than the original. It has been working on my car for thousands of miles and over a year.

Does anyone know if either of the Mopar lightweight starters will fit a Gen I Viper?

You said it was just a matter of when, not if

Mine leaked there TWICE. One of the holes in the crossover was out of location laterally. I egg shaped the hole laterally so that the crossover would pull down properly on the sealing surface. Also, use a torque wrench and tighten to 250 in-lbs.

    1994 Viper. Misaligned pulley?

I had a pinhole leak in the power steering hose on my '94 also. It was chaffing on the power steering pump reservoir. The Mopar replacement hose was slightly longer, which eliminated the rubbing condition.

Fun comment on a Viper from a Shelby Cobra guy

I have seen the Cobra kit with the Viper engine. Sorry, I don't have a picture handy. The engine fit under the hood, but it was installed at an extreme angle, not level fore and aft. The front of the engine was lifted to clear the front crossmember. It must have had some poor driveline...

    Can not open hood

Nigel, Thanks for the invitation. We will probably be going the other directio to Chichester. A friend and I spent several hours and several tries making a tool similar to yours that would work on his 1993 RT/10. I have a 1994 RT/10 and the air shields and closure panel are different and...

    Common Coolant leak problem. Help!

The problem may be that one of the lower fascia screws may have pierced the bottom of the bottle. This can happen when the facia gets temporarily pushed up by touching a parking lot divider, etc. If that is the problem, I think you have to remove the facia to repair it. As insurance, many...

    selecting a serpentine belt

Here's a possibility. Have someone move the tensioner to the position that it would be when the belt is installed and then use your string to measure the required length. Boman

    Can not open hood

Nigel, That is amazing. This is going to make my day a lot better! This will save me a lot of trial and error. Right now the weather here is too nice. Nobody returns my communications. They must all be out cruising. My daughter lives in London. Where are you? We are going to visit her...

    Can not open hood

That's what I was hoping to hear. I will get in touch with some of the local guys for a practice car. The Gen I should be the same. I assume that you were pushing from the center of the car toward the outboard side. Some of the older Mopar antennas were made of great material for these types...

    Can not open hood

I can not open my hood because the cable to the latch at the front on the drivers side became disconnected. Does anyone know a trick to unlatch it? The other side unlatches and that side of the hood opens slightly. I am wondering if I could use a welding rod to slip in to activate the latch...

    Advice on Pinning the Crankshaft??

On my GenI, I was able to use a "Husky" air drill that I purchased at Home Depot. If you already have an air compressor it is a lot cheaper. I had to resharpen the drill bit once. If you reverse the fixture, you do not have to remove the pulley. Be sure to check for the proper depth for the...
