I think you're right about the tires.
I never heard any GM engineer make the claim the Z51 is faster than the ZR1. They've hinted the C7 Z06 will be faster than the ZR1 since they're claiming it'll be the most track capable Vette ever produced. I don't have a problem believing the C7 Z06...
I haven't seen any lap times, just the instructors saying they're able to match Z06 times in the C7. I'm sure there will be published C7 vs C6Z test because it'll be at least a year before the C7 Z06 hit dealers.
I'm not so sure C7 Z51 vs C6 Z06 lap times are just marketing hype. The instructors at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch have reported their C7 lap times are on par with their Z06 times.
The constraints for the Z51 have to do getting certain parts (seems to be mostly CF pieces). A few C7 owners had issues with low diff fluid, but in the grand scheme of things it appears to be a very low percentage of affected cars. The thousands of other owners aren't going to make a thread...
I had a 2011 R8 V10 with the gated manual and loved it. I'm just chiming in because you're wanting to experience a car with "paddles", but the R8 you're buying with the R-tronic transmission consistently gets the worst reviews. Audi's new S-tronic transmission is one of the best, but the '14...
I stopped by a local dealer to look at the Gen 5 for the first time. They had a '14 with the Aero pack. I'm not going to lie, I was disappointed with the lack of interior room. I had a little more leg room compared to the ACR, but the door shuts against my left shoulder limiting the mobility...
In my experience the norm is for them to give you the best loaner they have available. Whenever I brought my R8 in for service, I would typically end up with an A8 loaner unless I requested something else they had available. I will say that I ended up with a rental Dodge Caravan when I brought...
Of course they would lock the thread. The ZR1 with MPSC just lost the record to a Viper with wet road capable Corsas! I'm surprised your thread lasted longer the 3 minutes on the Vette forum!
I've wondered if Audi had any idea their LED designs were going to spread like wildfire throughout the automotive industry. I don't think there's a single manufacturer who isn't putting some sort of LED signature design on their cars now. IMO Audi is still the best at implementing them into...
As a current 5.2L R8 owner I agree. However, with the current twin turbo kits available for the R8... some people might want to be careful running up on an R8. Might get the surprise of their life when the light turns green.
Weird thing is I noticed that when playing Forza. The ZR1 runs the new Viper down in Forza because of the gear ratios. I know it's just a game, but a lot of real world data (like gear ratios are aero) are fed into it.
