local dealer says i need a new clutch and valve. $1600. it's a 2004 srt
does that sound right? no private tranny places around here that want to touch it.
thanks
tom
as the weather is getting colder the tranny is getting problematic. hard to get into reverse first thing in the morning. once the weather warms up, later in he day, no problems.
dealership is giving the worst case scenario, talking tearing the whole thing down.
couldn't it be something simple...
$800 over invoice.
i think he already has a buyer for the viper.
just thought i'd list it here after all the posts encouraging me to let a member buy at the trade in price.
wish you guys would have spoke up about it being a fair trade price. all i heard was don't trade, sell here.
i've already...
now, if i'm not doing this right please let me know asap.
folks have been asking about my car and the add ons.
here's the ad: http://classifieds.viperclub.org/showproduct.php?product=5067&title=2004-srt10-red&cat=34
after 7 days it goes to the dealer for $35500 in trade. i'm sure he'll make some...
thanks wes!
yeah the car is down in your neck of the woods. I hadn't seen any with carbon.
of course, out here, i don't see many vipers at all!
the 1-2 shift problem i'm having is below 20mph and 2500 rpm.
i can run up to 40mph+ in first and grab second no problem.
i get these orange and red...
first question:
is this factory for a 2004? special order?
second question:
is second gear blocked out at low rpm up shifts? very low speed limit in town. at 10mph in first i can't
get 2nd gear unless i get the revs to 2500.
is this normal?
surely this isn't the 1 to 4 shift...

i sent them an email about changing two screws (legnth), hopefully they will listen.
i ended up having to epoxy and tap the holes for the rear mount because the screws were short, with a rapid taper and course threads.
ie, i stripped 'em first fitting!
tom
sorry for dumb question, but are there 3 separate pieces? i see the instrument shroud and the console piece. what is the other "small" piece?
thanks
tom
the sears looks good. i had no idea it wasn't conventional battery tech. for some reason, i thought the sponge tech was brand specific.
sorry about the ultima reference. the spell check on this mac has a mind of it's own!
tom
i looked at the die hard too.
better performance as far as CCA and reserve than the 34 ultima, for a few bucks more. but it's still a conventional platform.
i'm interested in the ultima because of alleged better vibration resistance and severe duty use. is that just hype?
thanks
tom
CNN Money lists the 2011 viper as 3rd fastest behind the vette and gt40.
here's their description;
Another dinosaur, the Dodge Viper is on hiatus until the 2012 model year. Given its primitive engineering (the original was already a throwback when it was introduced back in 1991) and minimalist...
looking to replace the AC Delco battery in my 2004 vert.
the "standard" ultima is the model 25, about $155. (red top)
next is the model 34 which is onlt about 3/4" longer, and more CCA and reserve time. about 7 lbs heavier. about $179. (Red top)
then the yellow top deep cycle battery. same...
i am as far from an expert as you could find! i live in NW kansas. the nearest dyno is 5 hours drive. the nearest 1/4 id 2 hours drive and it aint cheap to run.
i never intended to "drag race" the car. i only wanted a baseline to compare mods against. no sense in multiple runs at this point, i...
