Picked up my new SRT-10 yesterday, this car is like nothing I have
ever driven. It feels like a super go cart on steroids (steering really tight). I loved my Z06 but
I soon forgot about it after this first mile in the Viper. Everyone looks at
the car in either a cool car respect or your an a-- h--- for owning
such a toy, and this is after only the first day (I love it).
I like the simplicity of the interior, who needs luxury in a car like this.

Wow it's hot in this car!!!
Why do they not have motion sensor security in the cabin, this would
be useful with the top down unattended.

I will plan on joining a local viper group for ideas on performance upgrades.

I will keep everybody posted on my future experiences with the car.

Welcome to the Club.
The car is indeed unique.
Get used to running with the AC on most of the time. The cool air really makes the interior more comfortable.
Some heat will even work its way inside with the top down. Use your visors tilted so they flood the interior with cool air.
Enjoy your new car.

Having had 2 z06s, I couldn't agree with you more. Even if GM and Hill can pull their feet out of their a-- for 30 seconds, I doubt the new z06 will beat the viper. Even if it makes 500hp, there will be so many engine management and torque managements on the thing, it won't run like it should. And if worse comes to worse, there is a lot more performance to be gotten from the V10 without much effort

Thanks for the comments, this car is just awesome.
I mentioned about the heat, well that was with the
top down and approx. 76 deg. outside temp.
My wife was complaining about the heat, I told her
its because the engine is just so nasty powerfull thats
what you get. She thinks the car is so nice looking that
she is willing to put up with it (if she's not i'm sure I
can find someone that will LOL). In the last year I have
seen vipers in my area but no srt-10's. Why is that, I
live in a populated place "Long Island".
Also dealer told me their is no break in period, this seemed
odd to me. Why would they say OK to reving 6,000 rpm's on a
new engine? I plan on keeping it below 4,000
for the first 500 miles.

I drive the 10 with the air on all the time. With the top up it will keep me comfortable, but never frozen (and I like to be frozen). This is on 79-85 degree days. I have't put the top down yet (bought the 10 last sunday). I like the cooler weather for the top down

Can you freeze yourself with the top up?

Even in the bay area you rarely see a viper. I haven't seen an 03 or 04 until I bought mine. I think the earlier viper owners are pulling a C5 C6 argument right now.

There is a break in procedure shown in the owners manual. Plus lots of advice given here previously. Just goes to show you that you just cannot listen to the advice of a dealer who does not specialize in Vipers. They just don't know when to say "I dunno" and go find out the right answer.

Congrats and welcome to the club! What is your car's color? I drive mine with the AC on all the time or I turn off the fan with the top down. I like it more with the top and windows down because I can see, feel, and hear the car better. My wife likes my SRT more than my GTS because it is convertible. I think it is a good idea to follow break in procedure shown in the owner manual. Why? Because I plan to keep my cars for a long time.

Welcome. A/C almost always on, top down, windows down, visors tilted (under 70 mph, watch it above 70). In cooler weather, use recirc or the passenger will get a blast of warm air. DC says this is normal. Watch the sills in a stock car, they can be very warm. Cat back's will eliminate most of this, high flow cats the rest. Enjoy the car. :2tu:
