Corsa's website show removal of the stock pipes on an 08 without removing the sidesills. Is that correct?

That is not correct and definitely impossible. I think you misinterpreted the instuctions. The first page includes the instructions for the 2008 - 2010 but it starts with the sills already removed (even shows pics with the sills removed). It goes through the entire process for 2003 - 2006.
