i was recently in las vegas for the CES convention
which was the perfect place to rent a viper and go for a cruise
i drove a '97 GTS that i think had some problems. im hoping these are problems and not common issues

1. when driving and coming to a stop light, it would idle at 2k
then slowly drop to 1500 then drop quickly to around 700rpm. this happened at every light and took about 10 seconds for the whole cycle.

2. the car heated up really quick at idle. im not sure if the fan wasnt working or not. but i did hear it kick in. the rental shop had a special key to pop the hood. so i couldnt really check. my friends rt/10 never went over 190 degrees and i was well over 200.

3. i got about 10mpg the whole drive. i was hoping for 15mph on the highway but maybe that was wishful thinking

Sounds like the KNOWN '97 intake manifold gasket problem to me...see Viper tech for fix. Having at least a "fair amount" of Viper seat time, I would say taht the cars are SO MUCH FUN that one forgets gas milage (on trips, it's EASY to get 20+ mph).
