The local Senior Center has received a 2001 RT10 Viper as a donation.
The Viper is Dark Blue Metallic with less than 6,000 miles.

They are offering a ticket in a drawing for a donation of $1,000
and they will limit the number of tickets to 100.
The drawing will be held in approx. 60 days.

Here is the info I received:

2001 Dodge Viper

$1000.00 tax deductible donation
ONLY 100 TICKETS TO BE SOLD!!

Four additional prizes ranging from $700.00 to $1000.00 will be awarded.
Winner is responsible for all taxes, titles and licensing.
Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.

For more information contact: Glenda Webb or Nadeen Murphree @ 817-596-4640
Weatherford Senior Center, 1225 Holland Lake Road, Weatherford, Texas 76086
Cathy White, Treasurer

I will be cleaning the car up for them and will also post the VIN# later this
week. I will also take a few pictures of the Viper and will e-mail them to anyone that requests them or maybe someone will volunteer to help me out by posting them for me.

Let me guess... they sell 100 tickets = $100,000.

The owner of the car gets street value ($60k), and the Center gets to keep the $40k "profit" as a donation...

In other words, everybody wins? :D

JDR _ From what I understand the lady signed the title of the car over to the Weatherford Senior Center as a tax deductible donation. I believe she had won the Texas State Lotto a few years back and has been very generous to the Senior Center and other charities.

In 2001 & 2002 I gave far more than the cost of a Viper, so I can see how it can happen (I did cash though, not "toys" - makes for an easier deduction, and easier on the recipient). ...I wish 2003 had been a good year too :(

Anyhow, with all the people that try to "Auction" their cars personally, it seamed like a perfect "everyone wins" idea, concidering with today's economy, I can only assume a lot of charity has been cut back.

I guessed wrong - that's for clearity.

Just found out the following:

The drawing will be held April 15th, 2004 @11:30am.
They will send a tax donation letter to each person.

Thanks,
Steve

Wonder what the "real" story was. Maybe the old man had to go into the home and couldn't drive so the Viper had to go......or she cought the hubby cheating and she "donated" the car for him.
