are there any "cosmetic" changes known of to improve the STR10 for 2005? the entire reason i dumped my black 03 was d/t when i saw it...well i didnt like it. but i do want another viper, im ready to buy one and i am just wondering how long i got to wait until something comes out that I (and it seems many others) find appealing cosmetically speaking (i cant complain a bit about the performance of the new snakes)

The Vert is what it is and it's a great looking convert. If you don't like the 03 & 04 versions you're not going to like the 05, 06, etc.. maybe you'll like the Gen4??

Hopefully, they'll be a coupe for you in 06. That will be a cosmeticly different car. The same way that the GTS differs from the RT/10.

Many of us, a couple of thousand owners plus many, many perspective owners like myself, love the SRT and don't want anything changed. Maybe some more HP and software that allows the headlights to remain on but the car looks great.

Obviously I don't have any inside information, but I think DC will make some cosmetic changes to the SRT. It's obvious that many Viper owners don't like the new body style, but they can't simply redesign on a dime, but I think the changes are coming. I think that there will be both cosmetic and performance enhancements spread out over the next two or three years, and I think with the introduction of the coupe DC will modify the SRT slightly to make it look more aggressive in the front and rear.

This is just my opinion.

Some of us new Viper owners recently became Viper owners because we weren't crazy about the design UNTIL the SRT came along. As soon as I saw the photos in magazines 1 1/2 to 2 years ago, I fell in love and had to have one. Fortunately for all those who prefer the old style, there are plenty of nice, low mileage examples out there. To each there own.

I don't get why everyone hopes there will be a coupe in '06 - that's only three years after the rollout on the SRT.. I think the earliest we'd see a coupe is late '07 and with the onset of those really hi-po MB's I wouldn't be shocked to hear the Viper is discontinued. Why get a 500 hp Viper when you could have a 7XX HP Mercedes?

Disclaimer - I'm definitely IN FAVOR of a street legal CC, but don't get your hopes up.

I think that is where many are missing the boat, much like SoFlaSRT mentioned: While I agree that many current Viper owners are less than thrilled with the design, who says DC is designing the car for them? After all, selling 1600 cars a year when the competition sells 35,000 is not exactly a great goal. Mind you, I sure as heck don't want to see them produce a bazillion Vipers, but you have to look at it from the manufacturers point of view: The trade rags love it, not one has dissed the looks, and the car is selling well. Why redesign it for a small group of people that already have a Viper and probably won't buy it anyway? They are looking for new blood and getting it. I don't see any exterior design changes for 3-5 years, unless they bring on a coupe - or discontinue the Viper entirely.

Well by "changes" I really meant something like a factory chin splitter, maybe using the front-end design from the comp coupe and maybe tightening up the rear a bit, not an overall body change. I love the sides of the car, the sharp edged gills. I love the headlight treatment, but I don't like the relatively effeminate curve of the bottom of the grill. It looks too happy, while the CC looks mean.

I think DC can make some mild changes that will not only keep current SRT owners and prospective customers happy but also appeal to the previous gen Viper owner base.

Er, because:
(1) I'm not interested in a Mercedes
(2) Because a 500hp Viper for $100k is a lot less than 700hp Mercedes for $300k
