As the title says, my Viper was delivered to my door step by Roanoke last week. I have only driven it a few hundred miles, so I'm still learning about the car and forming opinions. Car has the optional leather seats and the interior is even better than expected. I have spent some time changing some of the displays to fit my needs. One of the things I like a lot is having the digital display of MPH at the bottom of the tach. Really makes it nice to glance down at your speed without trying to read the necessarily small speedometer which is at the left side of the display. The shortened shifter should have been standard about 10 years ago---this one is just the right height and will cost MGW some business. Shifting is equal to or better than the Gen 4---very smooth and precise. It will be hard to miss a gear with the Gen 5. Love the 3:55 rear axle and the new transmission gearing. The lesser MPG rating is worth it-- it's great not to have 5th and 6th gears so overdriven. Steering effort seems a bit more than the Gen 4 and is fine. There is a lot of electronic stuff which I will never use--I'm sure other's will. In my opinion, this is the best sounding stock Viper yet. It really barks when you first fire it up! I am happy with the fit and finish---Prefix did a great job with the paint, including the stripes. The doors, hood and hatch all open and close nicely. The ride is comparable to the Gen 4---not too harsh for me, but some may prefer the GTS with the adjustable shocks--particularly the new type of buyer which SRT is trying to attract.

Sorry the pictures are not better. I was having some slab leveling done on the other half of the driveway at the same time the Viper was being delivered, so background suffered. Many thanks to John Gastman at Roanoke for yet another great buying experience! John is always fair and honest, and he communicated well during the long wait.

Bill

Have to say that I had a huge smile opening this thread, and reminiscing about your thread when you got your blue/white 2008. Glad to see your wait is finally over Bill, she is gorgeous! Here's to many thousands of miles of enjoying your new Viper! :drive:

Congrats! That's what I need to match my '07 SRT8 Superbee! I mean, they would go PERFECT together! What a gorgeous car.

Great car! Nice write up. Are the stripes optional in the rear or do they all stop at the top of the rear lid?

The SRT Stripes are growing on me. They really are a great throwback to the '95 stripes. Great car and congrats!!

Would still like to see the SRT hood with GTS stripes out of curiosity though.

Post more pictures and videos soon. I'm sure many people, along with myself, would love to see spirited drives from inside the car as well.

Thanks to everyone for the congrats and kind words! Took a 250 mile drive today and really enjoyed it. A few more obsevations---SRT did a better job insulating the side exhaust covers -- there is no burn risk getting in and out with shorts. Also the air conditioning was bad in the Gen3, fine in the Gen4 and perfect in the Gen5. Cabin heat is a non issue. Thanks again!
