Has anyone put the 355/25yr19 Pirelli P-Zero Rossos in the rear of the Viper? Are there any problems running that size on an 06 Viper Coupe when my runflats wear out? Im not crazy about the Michelin Pilots. They are old tech compared to the PS2s. I really wish the Michelin PS2s came in our sizes. :usa:

Thanks,

I haven't, but I'd sure love to see them on the Viper. I'm a fan of big tires. There is plenty of room for more tire, so I'd say try it.

Most of the guys who are "blingers" run the 20's rather than the 19's.

I too wish that the PS2's were avaialble to fit our 19's. They are now available in 18' and 20's and I have written Michelin several times. Maybe if more of us would write / email them about the 19's in PS2 .....

I have them on my 2006 Viper Coupe. I have both front and rear Pirelli's(18 & 19"). Very nice looking tire with shorter side walls.

A lot better ride than run flats. They really reduced the wheel hop at WOT, but will spin a lot with a heavy foot till tires are warmed up, then they stick fairly good. Ride a lot better than the run flats. Seem to be wearing well.

The only thing being 25 they are abount 1/2" shorter tire than Michelin PS. This gives you a little bit more gap between fender and tire.

Ive also lowered my Viper pretty good so these tires makes the viper even closer to the ground.

Here are a couple of pics showing you the large gap with Pirelli's and the other lowered with Pirelli's.

I run 355/25 19 on my 97 GTS and will be putting a set on my SRT over the winter. They look GREAT but they are not the best for traction.

Hmmm. Are you guys saying the Michelins Pilot Sports have the same or better grip than the Pirellis? Im looking for more traction and ride quality versus looks. Thanks for the info. Also, do the 355s effect the speedo accuaracy?

Thanks,

I have not used the Michelin PS non run flats only the run flats. The Pirellis ride and stick better than the run flats.

I am like bullish they are not the best for traction. I understand the shorter the tire the lower your effective gear ratio. So I am pulling more torque to the tire and they spin easier. This is butt dyno but The Viper seems to be quicker with the Pirellis.

Talked with one using the Hoosier R6(345/30/19) and they say they really stick and hook up great, but tire milage would be down.

I have the 3.55's really like them. Dont think they effect speedo, but the Pirelli tires did.

Re: 355/25 Pirelli P-Zero Rosso Tires on the rear?

How much error does your speedo read now with the lower profile tires? I would imaging its reads about 10% faster now? Also, would you mid sending me or posting more pictures of the Pirellis on your car before you lowered it. Id rearlly like to get an idea of what it would look like with those tires on it.

Thanks Much,

The PS2 non-runflats have better traction then the Rosso's, I have tried both on a track, and the PS2 tires are clearly better handling in wet & dry.

I wanted the PS2's but they were not available in 345/30/19.

Flash-really cant say exactly on the error-reads about 3-4 miles more. Here are few more pics before lowering.

Jpas, do you mean Pilot Sport Non-Runflats or PS2s? They are different tires completely. Unfortunately, PS2s are not available in our size. In fact, nothing is...*****.

Flash I have heard that Kumho is coming out with 345/30/19 in the V700.??

The Pirelli's are good tires they are little more expensive. Its the gap it leaves in the rear. The gap, to me, is already a lot with stock. At car shows, before lowering, and others around town looking at Viper this was notice especially with Pirelli's.

So with Pirellis you probably would want to lower. But the gap was bothering me with stock tires. Now this is just my openion on lowering. Some do not like to lower for various reasons and one reason you have to be careful where you drive.

Good luck on your decision. We have so many tires to choose from

IF Kumho comes out with the V-700 in 19 inches it will be the stickiest DOT tire available. I'll buy a set of these.

The rumor is that the PS2 in 19 inches will be out after the first of the year. It will be a good choice for stock and lightly modded cars - heads/cam, etc.

Mike, I don't object to "blingers" as many Viper guys are more concerned with looks than performance. I like good looks too, but am a bit more focused on performance than looks. To each his own.

The Kumho's are great and have them mounted on HRE's. I also have a set of Pilot Cups great traction. Nice tire for high speeds but not so good in the rain. Run Flats **** & if you can not drive a fast car well they can hurt you. The Pirellis hook up great with some practice. Pirelli is the best tire I have tried on my car. Excellent on the interstate at triple digit speeds. At the Bradenton event last week in the street tire class I ran a 10.40 @ 136.5mph & then had a 10.43 @ 139mph. 60'time of 1.65 so the Pirelli(355/25/19) does perform well.

Seems like the Ps2's will be out in Feb. Will be a Big big run on the tires. Some seem to think they will be stock on 2008.

Richie on the Pirelli's your right on the phrase "with practice". Seems like the more I practice and spend time with Pirellis the better they perform.

The run flats were awful especially bad wheel hop under wot. I just had at times to forget wot off the line with run flats. The Pirelli's will hop very little but will spin. But a good warm up and they, as you mentioned, hooked very well
